Could we perhaps say "...an ideology and/or a religion"?

I'm not quite sure that religion fits as a subset of ideology; intersecting sets, perhaps?

And rightly so. They're shite.
But nobody plays cricket any more, it's hardly surprising that they're crap.

I am disappointed at the atmosphere of this ashes series though.
Years ago, people only sledged if they thought of some witty wisecrack. Now it's just nastiness, without the humour.
I do blame the press. They come out with this shit to sell papers, but then it seems to spread to the others in the game. It's just a minor interest game, for fuck's sake.

I haven't seen a cricket series for a few years (having no TV or radio is a problem), but Australia have always been bad sledgers. They've been going WAY too far since Steve Waugh's days. Unfortunately the public loves it as it matches our drunken boor image perfectly.

They were at best manipulating and controlling religion and at worst executing those who didn't tow the party line.I think humans do bad things whether they are good or bad people is quite irrelevant.
