A lot of the younger people I speak to, including my own sons, would certainly describe themselves as non-religious, but they tend to recoil from calling themselves atheists, as that label has the flavour of cranky old loonies...

Fair enough! :hehe:

Bad people do bad things. But to get good people to do bad things, that takes religion.*

*Is it? Dawkins used it with a smile.

I would simplify it (since I don't have an anti-theist agenda): Bad people do bad things, but to get good people to do bad things takes an ideology.

*I recall that interview with Weinberg now. Though not what it was from. In any case Weinberg made his bias clear.

Could we perhaps say "...an ideology and/or a religion"?

I'm not quite sure that religion fits as a subset of ideology; intersecting sets, perhaps?

And yet they call themselves Australians, without any trace of embarrassment. :dunno:

Australia has the most lethal lifeforms going but enough about feminism as your wildlife is pretty dangerous too.

Currently, we don't believe that English cricketers are any good...

It matters not, who won or lawst, but how you played the game.

It seems that sportsmanship has quit Australia recently. But maybe that's just the press.

At least it's a belief system for which hard evidence seems to be accruing... :tea:

And rightly so. They're shite.
But nobody plays cricket any more, it's hardly surprising that they're crap.

I am disappointed at the atmosphere of this ashes series though.
Years ago, people only sledged if they thought of some witty wisecrack. Now it's just nastiness, without the humour.
I do blame the press. They come out with this shit to sell papers, but then it seems to spread to the others in the game. It's just a minor interest game, for fuck's sake.

I haven't seen a cricket series for a few years (having no TV or radio is a problem), but Australia have always been bad sledgers. They've been going WAY too far since Steve Waugh's days. Unfortunately the public loves it as it matches our drunken boor image perfectly.

Horseshit just look at the nazis.

They were at best manipulating and controlling religion and at worst executing those who didn't tow the party line.I think humans do bad things whether they are good or bad people is quite irrelevant.

As for the OP meh people believe what they want its none of my business.

The Pope was today knocked down at the start of Christmas mass by a woman who hopped over the barriers. The woman was said to be, "Mentally unstable."

Which is probably why she went unnoticed among a crowd of Christians.
