Way way too many bands and artists to type.

spotify.com
Outside the ordered universe is that amorphous blight of nethermost confusion which blasphemes and bubbles at the center of all infinity—the boundless daemon sultan Azathoth, whose name no lips dare speak aloud, and who gnaws hungrily in inconceivable, unlighted chambers beyond time and space amidst the muffled, maddening beating of vile drums and the thin monotonous whine of accursed flutes.

I could produce mine programmatically, but I'd have to cleanse it of certain "undesirable" elements first.

A more interesting exercise would be how many tracks and/or albums from each artist/band.

I can confidently assure you that there is nothing remotely as bad as that. Not even in a former (music listening) life would I have stooped so low. :hmph:

Does your Dbase inherit from another? :ask:

A Meta-Dbase, so to speak. Anywho, don't mess with MySql. :irate:

A load of MP3 files with all their tags is essentially just a single large table of data, easy to dump into Excel or whatever, using any number of programs.

That would be very tedious for 35,704 music files of assorted types (.flac, .ogg,.mp3,.wma, etc)

I use a program that automatically databases all the tag info, models it to match how I listen to my music, but also allows me to make changes in a fairly decent user interface. It could be better, but whatcha gonna do?

Relying on technology for some things is to cause memory atrophy...and is a technical crutch that hinders discernment and all that goes to making a music, book or porn collection of real individual merit....

Chemical Brothers
Cocteau Twins
Sade
Stacey Kent
Banco De Gaia
De-Phaz
Incognito
Fila Brazilia
The Smiths
Morrisey
The Blow Monkeys
Prefab Sprout
Aztec Camera
Meatloaf
Randy Newman

Probably some more. 80,000 tracks...or so.

Try MP3Tag, and point it at the root folder of your music library:

Ja, I'll give it a spin.

Ach. It's for Windoze and my media files are on an ext filesystem (ext4 i think). I've written my own before, but it didn't use online dbases. Basically just a cli. I got bored of manually batch processing though. :\

You can also point it at any sub-folder if you just want to work with part of your collection.
