Merkin insurance

Post by Tero » Wed Oct 30, 2013 10:22 pm

I have insurance from work, but I have been debating idiots here and there about our new socialism. I did not bother with Obamacare, as a friend had a quote, man of 50. Anthem was cheaper in MO. So for me, if I just put in one person nonsmoker, it gives me these 2014 rates. I would pay about 5000 a year covering medical and drugs. Out of pocket max is 6500. You can get this too, it's the law.

:what: How fucking much? :ddpan:
Outside the ordered universe is that amorphous blight of nethermost confusion which blasphemes and bubbles at the center of all infinity—the boundless daemon sultan Azathoth, whose name no lips dare speak aloud, and who gnaws hungrily in inconceivable, unlighted chambers beyond time and space amidst the muffled, maddening beating of vile drums and the thin monotonous whine of accursed flutes.

That much. We only have private rooms in hospitals. If you get a room. Mostly they do outpatient surgery and send you home.

No. That is what self employed people pay. I have to look up a paycheck.

What does self-employed have to do with it? It's a crazy amount of money.

My share after the employer contribution is about $300/month for a family plan.

Mine comes under 450 a month for family of 4, medical dental and vision. I forgot to get some perks last time, so it will be about the same 2014. Since I get the discount, but rates go up due to a company split etc. It's taken out of salary before taxes.

I'd say we got our money's worth out of the dental, 2 kids going to orthodontist. Last 5 years I've spent medical $ so it was needed. One surgery.

Those plans listed, and any others for 2014, cover these items. If the 10 items are not in the plan the patient has now, insurance companies may cancel the plan.
Here are the 10 Essential Health Benefits.
1. Ambulatory patient services;

2. Emergency services;

3. Hospitalization;

4. Maternity and newborn care;

5. Mental health and substance use disorder services, including behavioral health treatment;

6. Prescription drugs;

7. Rehabilitative and habilitative services and devices;

8. Laboratory services;

9. Preventive and wellness services and chronic disease management; and

10. Pediatric services, including oral and vision care.

Signed up for work 2014 plan. Looks like the "regular" is the gold/latinum of that table. Company pays more than half. Then there is a high deductible plan.

So my rate went up for me a bit, not 20%.
Turns out there is no technical problem signing up for Obamacare. Just avoid the Gubment site. All insurance is now Obamacare. Each site allows applying for subsidies. You have to log into each offering to get rates. Many states have Anthem or Blue Cross.

Woman's 54 dollar "insurance" by a rather reputable Blue Cross, cancelled, was no insurance at all, really.

What's the rate to ensure one merkin, slightly moth eaten?

Er, no, out of pocket max is $11,500. Out of pocket minimum, whether you get sick or not, is $5,000. My out of pocket average per year is about $1,600 including a year's supply of all my prescription meds. So I'd be paying $3,400 per year for absolutely no medical care whatsoever...for me. Paying three times what I need to pay just so some dependent-class leech can feel more comfortable isn't on my agenda, ever.

1. Ambulatory patient services;
Don't want it.
2. Emergency services;
Don't need it or want it.
3. Hospitalization;
Don't need it.
4. Maternity and newborn care;
Certainly don't need it.
5. Mental health and substance use disorder services, including behavioral health treatment;
Might be nice, but no way am I letting the government, particularly the IRS, have any information at all about any mental health care I might choose to get. Same applies to every other iota of medical information about me. None of their business.
6. Prescription drugs;
I get a year's supply cheaper than the copays.
7. Rehabilitative and habilitative services and devices;
Don't need it.
8. Laboratory services;
Costs me $360 per year for regular testing.
9. Preventive and wellness services and chronic disease management; and
None of Obama's fucking business.
10. Pediatric services, including oral and vision care.
Don't need or want it.
