There aren't any because right wing people, for the most part, lack a sense if humor.

I thought it was because left-wingers weren't as naturally ridiculous as right-wingers which doesn't leave them as open to mockery, which is why right-wing shows (like Fox) tend to resort to saying obscene and nasty stuff and creating outlandish lies out of an inferiority complex.

I make a bad sociologist. :(

Fox News tried once or twice, but failed miserably. I forget what they were called.

You can't be on the side against gays, non-nationals and feminists, and be infectiously patriotic and cripplingly religious, and have the good nature to be witty and charming all at the same time.

Left wingers currently aren't as ridiculous and preposterous - or at least, the ridiculous and preposterous amongst the left wing aren't as prominent.

However, they do exist, to wit - Apelust and the FT Blogs crowd. If the media started reporting on them as if they were a mass movement their numbers would grow, and their claims would become more toxic and more preposterous. At that point they would come in for severe satirisation.

There have been very good piss-takes of the loony left in the past, including:

The Young Ones
Citizen Smith
Life of Brian (Judaean People's Front, etc.)
Quest for the Holy Grail
Millie Tant (from Viz)
etc.

etc.

Yeah, but those shows were largely by leftwingers, or at least centralists, taking the piss out of themselves. Hell even Cobert and Steward take the piss out of the left. Obama got mocked to bits on The Cobert Report last night.

My take is that right wingers are too angry to do humour. Too many moral crusades to wage, or dollars to count. Although, I'd be surprised if there wasn't an equivalent of some sort.

Palin,, Bush, Santorum,

Fallwell, Limbough, Coulter.

When these are the people are standing next to you...
What I've found with a few discussions I've had lately is this self-satisfaction that people express with their proffessed open mindedness. In realty it ammounts to wilful ignorance and intellectual cowardice as they are choosing to not form any sort of opinion on a particular topic. Basically "I don't know and I'm not going to look at any evidence because I'm quite happy on this fence."

Of course, Obama isn't left, really. Not in the sense that left means everywhere else...

But I wouldn't be too quick to say that Monty Python were leftists, or even centrists. They are liberals - but, like me, it is possible to be conservative and liberal at the same time. (Fiscally conservative, socially liberal).
