People think "queue" is just "q" followed by 4 silent letters.

But those letters are not silent.

They're just waiting their turn.

I don't count that one. Hated it.*
Naw, but I had the first three in a boxed set. I bought them, along with a bunch of other DVDs, before I quit my job.

*Hate is too strong a word. I don't even remember it, to tell you the truth. I only retain a vague awareness of not caring very much for it.

I thought "First Class" worked too hard to get everybody up to speed on the back story of the X-men. It was a strain to get it all into one movie, and they didn't do it very well.

I remember being really excited about it because I liked the director, and I love The X-Men. And the critics were falling all over themselves fawning over and praising the film. And then I saw it, and thought surely the critics and I hadn't watched the same film. It was boring and stupid and cheesy looking, and lacked the heart and soul of the first three.

Wow, I loved First Class, and it definitely blew the 3rd film out of the water. I thought the 3rd was awful, which was unfortunate because the second is just so good.

I wouldn't mind watching First Class again, to give it another chance. I honestly don't remember much about it other than I didn't really like it.
I thought the third film wasn't as good as the first two, but still had some very strong scenes in it, maybe the strongest scenes of the three. I liked it overall, but think it would've been better if Singer had directed it. And if it had Nightcrawler in it. WTF, where did he go? :ddpan:
What bothered me about all of the first three films was the lack of consequence when fighting. Wolverine slices and dices but there's never any blood. Police cars get blown up, and then you see all the cops laying on the ground, alive and stunned, clothes just a little sooty. Same when Pyro burns the shit out of people with huge balls of flame...they're still alive, their clothes are only dirty :ddpan: The fuck? It's not like I'm expecting a Tarantino film, but c'mon, what is this, the fucking A-Team?

I liked the second but dislike Brian Cox. Dunno why. He just rubs me the wrong way.

Yep. 3rd film was a CGI mess. It's like Lucas made Star Wars, Empire Strikes Back and then jumped straight to Jaja Binks! :tea:

Details in a very matter-of-fact way the whole drug scene in America from the street dealer to the cartel lords with interviews from Curtis Jackson, Marshal Mathers, Woody Harrelson, Susan Sarandon and various ex coke dealers, narcs and lawyers.

In the middle was a criticism on the cynical "War on Drugs" with input from David Simon (The Wire) about how government politicians use the "War on Drugs" to make money, how police forces are using mindless and thuggish SWAT raids to generate funding while intimidating and terrorising people over small amounts to get the stats, and how the prison systems have vested interests in filling up the numbers. The cops don't even have much incentive to capture the murderers and rapists, all their money is in the drug busts and their eyes are on capturing the ill-gotten gains rather than the product.

This was topped off by a sober argument for decriminalising drugs and spending that money given to the DEA on helping people with Portugal used as an example of how decriminalisation works. Addiction and use is dropping. It's not cool any more nor is there the quick buck once involved.

Worth a watch.

Saw Monsters University today, though it was NOT a good movie. I think Pixar has lost it. Disney must be exerting too much control or something. It was: listless, meandering, pointless, tiresome, uninspired, unfunny, and worst of all boring. A Pixar film that's boring, that's a first. If I had a watch, I woulda been looking at it constantly, wondering when that piece of shit film was going to end. Completely devoid of the usual Pixar magic, of any sort of magic, or of anything at all for that matter. It was a strictly by-the-numbers, going-through-the-motions affair. Lifeless. Dull. Insipid.
