2013 Concerts

Post by Tero » Sat Jun 22, 2013 8:54 pm

Early in the year it was Sibelius 5th with Finnish conductor Hannu Lintu. My first attempt at St Louis Symphony. It was a good concert.

July coming Ian Andersson plays Jethro Tull. My wife hates Aqualung* so hope there is no encore of that. He plays Thick As A Brick 1 and 2.

And, since she will go to mine, I am going to Eagles sometime October. I think I get the better deal, since I don't mind. Besides, Joe Walsh gets to do some solo bit.

And that will be it, unless I find a Saturday symphony in the fall.

I played thru my Eagles 2CD hits. We have separate CD shelves in out 30 year marriage, only mine is probably 10x bigger. I have multiple categories. She has two: In English and Not In English. I have the one collection, she has all the Eagles albums...somewhere.

So I went thru song by song. I like all the songs Walsh was on. He came on board at Hotel California. I only like about a third of the rest. Just having Walsh on guitar gives the song more kick.

So the concert is tonight. I believe it consists of TAB original, plus TAB2

the musicians are young except the bassist is my age on far left. So my wife won't need to go see "some old men" as she described them last time this came up.

What I've found with a few discussions I've had lately is this self-satisfaction that people express with their proffessed open mindedness. In realty it ammounts to wilful ignorance and intellectual cowardice as they are choosing to not form any sort of opinion on a particular topic. Basically "I don't know and I'm not going to look at any evidence because I'm quite happy on this fence."

I wanted to go see the Monkees during their summer tour, but it frustratingly doesn't coincide with my holiday locations, sometimes just a day or two off where I'll have been/will be. :sadcheer:

Bastards! Then I can't see the Flying Karamazov Brothers perform either, as they're doing a show in Seattle the evening we're leaving for Portland. :lay: What's wrong with these people!?

I end up going to chemistry conventions that go Sun to Thu. The bands in those cool cities play Thu to Sat. I would need to take a day of vacation to see the band. It happened in San Diego, San Francisco and Seattle. I would probably do it for Kaukonen/ Hot Tuna or a couple more, folkies.
