Just saw After Earth, the Will Smith/Jaden Smith film. This movie was savaged by the critics but I rather liked it. It's no masterpiece or anything, but I found it to be perfectly enjoyable and well acted by both Will and his much-maligned son. I also felt that it was a return to form by the director, M. Night Whotzis.
People think "queue" is just "q" followed by 4 silent letters.
But those letters are not silent.
They're just waiting their turn.

I thought it was good. Lots of M. Night flourishes. And the fact that father and son IRL played father and son in the film made it that much more poignant as far as I was concerned.
I know everyone has different tastes and all, and what critics happen to say isn't gospel or anything. But usually there's a general correlation between what the critical consensus is and what I think myself. If the critics say a film is crap, chances are I'll think it's crap as well, and vice versa. And even if I disagree with a very critical negative review, I can still usually see where the critic is coming from. But with this one, it's like we were watching an entirely different film

An absolute classic. Put together one out of two and a half men, Roy Slater, Skeletor's wife as Lois Lane. What looks like a smoothed out burn victim as the eponymous hero and the choreography of a three-quarter quadriplegic synchronised swimming team and you have the recipe for unintentional hilarity. This movie is more full of "Why?" than the underpants section of Marks and Spencers.

The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford.
Actually pretty good and supposedly the most historically accurate film about this subject to date.
It also features some stunning landscapes and outstanding cinematography. The soundtrack is pretty good, too.
Recommended if you haven't seen it.
