I liked IM 3, planning on seeing it again tomorrow since the idiots in the movie theater were 15 minutes late starting The Croods. I had to actually ask them to start it. So I missed the first 5-10 minutes of IM 3. It was supposed to be a scary Mandarin video. If I had seen it I bet I would have found the Mandarin more menacing. Oh well! Planning on watching Star Trek tomorrow as well.

The Impossible. Goddamn. If you want to cry lots, this is the one to watch. Fantastic acting too from absolutely everyone, even the little kids. Very believable, and emotionally moving.
People think "queue" is just "q" followed by 4 silent letters.

But those letters are not silent.

They're just waiting their turn.

I watched Mama, a pretty decent horror film from Guillermo del Toro. He was the producer, at least. What a producer does exactly, I've no idea. But it was a surprisingly moving film with some real emotion. As with a lot of horror films, I kind of liked the absent-of-supernatural-elements lead-in so much that I sorta felt the later fantasy/horror aspect was unnecessary. But then again, a good horror film works best if it starts off as a good drama. If you don't care about the characters, then nothing else really matters. Still, the film is strongest while the creature is only hinted at. Once it's finally shown, it's more silly than scary.
Really very good performances, especially from the kids, which is crucial in terms of believability.

Saw Django unchained last night. Quirky, extremely violent, but brilliant I thought.

Certainly the first two thirds, but as Django gains confidence Waltz's character fades a bit. Deliberate and well done I thought.
