Quite a series finale the other night. A lot of people either loved it or hated it. I for one felt like someone punched me in the gut during the final 15 minutes. I'll discuss if anyone is interested, but I don't want to give away spoilers now.

Looking back on the series: it was brilliant but held on past its expiration date. Seasons 1, 2, 4 and 5 were great. 3, 7 and 8 not so much, and 6 really blew.

Most disappointing series finale ever. Made Lost's finale seem satisfying in comparison.

I wouldn't say that, but I did have some serious issues with Dexter's reasoning for what he did with himself. His activities were the cause of everyone around him coming to bad ends, not his very existence. And it sounds like he might've been able to grow beyond his need to kill. Couldn't he have TRIED a new start for the sake of Harrison? I really just felt awful for the kid, much more than for Dexter.

But I guess he didn't deserve a happy ending. And ending up dead or caught might have been too cliché, or too much for the audience, especially if Harrison had to deal with knowing it. Perhaps this ending was appropriate, even if it isn't satisfying.
