I think there's also an age element in this. As in, once you get beyond a certain age, you are much less inclined to spend the time seeking out and listening to "new" music. As ever with these things, that varies from one person to another.

I've been sampling genre outside my usual on "Xirius (sp?) on Dish", about 90 channels of music.Clinton Huxley wrote:After the age of 35, apparently. That would be about right, although in my case I struggled on for a few years. Now I've pretty much given up though. The lamentable state of music radio nowadays is part of the problem as well though. I've no doubt there is plenty of good music out there, but I have higher priorities in life than trying to find it.Clinton Huxley wrote:After the age of 35, apparently. Re: BBC Radio poll: Coldplay album is 'favourite of all time
I would agree with you on that somewhat I'd say it is the age when one grows up and realises there is no "cool". It's only new to you that matters. If you've been a Metallica fan all your life and suddenly start digging Rachmaninov then it's new music. I think one of the problems with contemporary music is that it is seen as a "teen" market which means that some interesting and sophisticated stuff is given an erroneous taxonomy because of how limited our discussions of music are.klr wrote:I think there's also an age element in this. I hope to never grow out of finding new music. One of my favourite pastimes is going onto YouTube and puttingin something I like then following the links in the Recommneded section and see where it takes me
