I suppose a Chinese armed intervention against NK might slightly reduce the length of the war, and reduce SK casualties. However, they would not be doing it for that reason, but to preserve their vision of a balance of power on the peninsula, and gain a more pliable buffer state; I doubt they'd want a larger, stronger SK, a firm US ally, right up against their border. I'm sure they would prefer a NK without crazed leaders, firmly in their pocket. SK would prefer to reunify on its terms, a little like Germany...Warren Dew wrote:

If China kicked in and handed NK over to SK, I doubt SK's subsequent alliance with the US would be any stronger than their alliance to China. If China asked/demanded that no US troops be stationed in (the former) NK, I'm quite sure SK would honor that. Maybe even send the USFK packing.

OK, as far as I can tell, this is half-spoof, half real. It reads and sounds like it's propaganda, but it's not talking only about the US. It's talking about the West in general, about how much poverty and hardship there is, etc, even in the capital cities. Again, that's as far as I could tell from reading the text early on and what bits I could catch between the "translator's" talking.
