Not here. She's been the source of so much top notch comedy for so long, that it's understandable that she would take a misstep here and there, and can be expected to return to the great heights.

Still, that was ultimately a buddy flick for her and her BFF Amy Poehler, don't you think? I think people might be more forgiving there. This seems more like a Gigli. Although I guess Ben Affleck turned out all right, too.

I've not long started watching 30 Rock. It comments a lot on the idea of generic hollywood shit being made, especially by Tracy Jordan. So it's not as if she's immune to the fact that trite generic shit sells. I think a lot of actors and writers on the Big Screen are taking what they can get at the moment because cinema is dying on it's arse. (Not film-making, but Cinema.)

This is true. But I read her memoir, and she claims Darryl Hammond is a DaVinci of comedy, which makes me think her judgement isn't always so spot-on.

And I wonder if part of it is she's finally a Pretty Girl (not that she hasn't always been pretty, but now she sells shampoo and cosmetics and gets on Red Carpet best-dressed lists and such) and maybe she's taking her moment to enjoy that. Might be extra sweet since she's older than most ingenues...

I wasn't dissing her commercial ventures. I wouldn't turn down a chance to make that kind of money. And I definitely wouldn't turn down the opportunity to wear gorgeous designer dresses for glamorous events.

The sense I get is that this sort of thing is new for her, relative to her other extensive show biz experience. I was just wondering if being a lead in a straight-up romantic comedy is part of that.
