I remember them from Paul Simon's Graceland album in the 80s - I bought my Mum one of their albums for xmas a few years after after she said she liked them. Good stuff.

Graceland's my favorite album.

I saw a great documentary about the making af Graceland, 20 years later, with interviews with all the members of LBM, as well as reps from the African National Party... Lots of discussion about Simon un/wittingly breaking UN sanctions on South Africa, the big issues of apartheid/exploitation/other ugliness that swirled around after the album became so successful.

The singers of Ladysmith Black Mambazo still blow me away-- such a beautiful tone, such tight harmonies. And talk about onomatopoeia!

Gorgeous.
