There's even a name, and dedicated website, for this type of thing in martial arts circles, bullshido.
 Bullshido bookmarked. The main reason I don't like to talk martial arts with most Western people is all the emphasis on the woo, like chi and superhuman feats of their master or grandmaster. :airwank:

I'm in a theater about to watch Lincoln. I assume it'll be good.

You were right! I don't think you've yet recommended a movie to me that I didn't like. :awesome:

A couple that were so fucked up that I couldn't decide whether I liked or not, maybe... :?

Off to down-get now... :eddy:

Y'know I usually like films like this. Films like this were white-folk get their just commupence from oppressed black-folk. It reminds me of films like Michael Collins were the Brits get their just commupence from oppressed Irish bastards. I get a grim satisfaction out of it. Despite, yeah I know, that shit's all behind us and we're friends now. I'm not sure if you white-folk can get under the skin of such films, being on the recieving end usually with the white shame and all that. I guess maybe if you've been bullied you would probably have a special empathy.
I digress....
I usually like films like this but I couldn't help feeling while watching this one that it's out far too late. That Blazing Saddles already did this and did it better. That white shame may even be a bit passé now. It wasn't a bad film by any means, just, untimely.

Tarantino's "gratuitous violence movies" aren't shocking any more.

I liked Django and I never feel like the violence in Tararntino films is gratuitous, oddly enough. If the violence is in the service of or makes sense within the context of the story, or it's just fucking cool, then I'm okay with it :hehe:
Also, I don't really have white guilt. Slavery happened a long time ago and I'm from the North besides. I saw the film as more good guys vs bad guys, and yer typical root-for-the-underdog kind of thing. Race was pretty much irrelevant.

God I hated Tideland :ddpan: It was boring. I kept waiting for something to happen but it never did. And the young girl who played the lead performance was not talented enough to pull off a lead performance, not like Sarah Polley in Munchausen.
People think "queue" is just "q" followed by 4 silent letters.

But those letters are not silent.

They're just waiting their turn.

Life Of Pi - nice tiger, likeable characters, but a bit dull. Id rather have seen a story about the setting up of the zoo and Pi's childhood. And the 3d effect didn't work too well, though maybe my eyes are too close together
