Re: US Presidential Election, 2016.
Got a good tip for a future candidate applies to every democracy, don't call half the population scum/morons. Doesnt matter if you think they are don't get caught on camera doing so.
You win elections but getting people who don't like you much very much or you don't like to vote for you , not those who adore you/would vote for a cabbage if it was the correct party

Re: US Presidential Election, 2016.
Gotta agree with you there, Mr.Jonno. Romney's gaffe about all the folks who don't want to work and just want stuff for free was idiotic. I mean, in the day and age of ubiquitous audio and video, it sucked the air out of the campaign. It was palpable.
I mean, why did he not say that so much of our population is being ill-served by government, and stifling government programs, and I think that my policies would help the 47% of the population who aren't likely to vote for me. I want to free them and help make them as economically self-reliant as possible. Somehow, phrase it in a positive light.

Huntsman would have been much better, but for some reason, he did not get the time of day.Gawdzilla Sama wrote:And Romney was pick of the litter. That's just scary.

Well, no rational person was going to get the GOP nod that year.Coito ergo sum wrote:Huntsman would have been much better, but for some reason, he did not get the time of day.Gawdzilla Sama wrote:And Romney was pick of the litter. That's just scary.

The next candidate is still going to romney his own party, to get the nomination.
To romney=to say whatever the audience of the day wants to hear.

The GOP needs to shed the Tea Baggers so they can start making sense to the rest of their party.

It's a matter of degree. There's a normal limit on how much crazy fucking shit one can say. Romney exceeded that limit.Coito ergo sum wrote:How is this different than any other politician?Tero wrote:The next candidate is still going to romney his own party, to get the nomination.

Happened in the UK Gordon Brown the last Prime Minister was overhead called a racist bigot a racist bigot when he got into his car after chatting to her for a bit. It got recorded on TV and the first the PM knew about it was when it was played to him in a radio interviewCoito ergo sum wrote:Gotta agree with you there, Mr.Jonno. C-SPAN starts "road to the white house" -- http://www.outsidethebeltway.com/c-span ... -election/
1286 days left until Obama is gone. Who will be his replacement?
If the election were held now, my bet is on Hillary Clinton. Right now, she looks pretty formidable.
I see nobody of note in the Republican Party having stepped to the fore. Nobody of any moment, I'll say that much. And, I think Hillary is heir apparent in the Demo spectrum. She lost to 'bama, and every 'bama voter would easily be a Hillary voter.
Republicans that might be able to give Hillary a run for her money -- NJ Governor Chris Christie. Marco Rubio is another possibility, but I think he'd get slaughtered by Clinton. Paul Ryan may step forward, but I think he probably needs to sit out 2016 and grow some grey hair. He was too easily spanked by elder Biden.
I think maybe a Chris Christie -P and Condi Rice - VP would be a nice ticket.
