Did they ever make another album as good as 2112? Maybe Hemispheres. Anything else? Because I bought a handful of their other albums and, to me, none had the same magic.
People think "queue" is just "q" followed by 4 silent letters.
Progressive rock bands in general seem to have one or two great albums in them, and then the others are just mediocre, and then some of them outright suck. Yes for instance had The Yes Album and Fragile. I particularly liked Fragile. But then they sucked after that (until The Buggles made Drama under the Yes name. That was a good one). Emerson Lake and Palmer had Trilogy and Brain Salad Surgery, and then what the hell happened after that?
I dunno. Maybe that doesn't hold true across the board. Pretty much every Pink Floyd album was great. And every Tull album, up to a certain point. But what the hell happened to prog? Where did it go? Why did bands that were so astonishingly good in the 70s just kind of peter out

Syrinx was waaaaayyy too leinent on that twat with the moth-eaten detuned twang stick.

I like A Farewell To Kings a lot.

They became overbloated parodies of themselves very often or abandoned the fashion for other styles. It continues. Whether they fucking like it or not Radiohead are a prog rock band. So are Muse. It's actually quite a popular genre atm.

Even trilogy was weak on lyrics. I liked Lucky Man for the overblown heroic theme. The synth solo is really dated now. That is why they went to do it acoustic live. I liked Emerson mostly on organ and piano.
Rush tried to move with the times and to a large extent succeeded. I think they realised that they can't please everyone all of the time and nor should they try. Consequently there is something of a mixed bag through Rush's career IMO. I loved 2112, Grace Under Pressure, Power Windows and Moving Pictures. After that, there steadily became less and less songs I could really dig with each successive album. A mate of mine played me Clockwork Angels recently and that was a bit of a return to form for me. I like that album. I'll always have a soft spot for Rush - they blew my mind and broke me wide open to new influences at a time when I was nicely cued up for exactly that.
As a bassist myself, Geddy Lee has always been a massive influence on my playing along with Steve Harris in the early days and John Myung.

Signals, Power Windows, Moving Pictures...
