No, just Israel, where law-abiding citizens walk around every day in public armed with handguns, rifles, shotguns and fully-automatic genuine "assault rifles" for defense against terrorist attack, and they haven't had an attack like this on one of their schools since the early 1980s. And yet you don't see the gutters running with blood from law-abiding citizens suddenly and inexplicably going insane merely because they possess a firearm and shooting everyone in sight. That's left to the Palestinian and other Islamic terrorists.

Go figure, more guns, less crime.

When will you idiots learn.
Yabut, they're not paranoid like you, Seth. Someone is really out to get them. The only threat you face is from your inability to shoot straight; hence all the holes in your feet.
Someone was out to get those kids yesterday. Where the fuck were YOU when it happened, and what the fuck would YOU have done if it happened where you're standing now?

Nothing, that's what. You'd piss yourself and scream and pray that someone, anyone has a gun and will defend you from your own stupidity.

Not a problem I'll ever have.
Well of course it wont be a problem for you, Seth. You'll be safe inyour basement blowing hard on the internets. Remind me, why didn't you makethe grade as a cop?

You know where I think all your anger comes from, Seth? All this hatred that you spew at everyone here? It comes from knowing that what you believe is dying. The far-right lunacy you cherish is fading away from the world... and I think you actually know it as well as anyone else. You see it in younger generations, you read the polling data, you know what younger generations believe in compared to yours, and you know it's a demographic inevitability that your causes are lost. I'm a left-of-center type, but I don't worry that the world is tilting more towards your way of thinking, I only worry that it isn't tilting away from it quickly enough. I can live with that.

With every passing year, and with every incident like this, fewer and fewer people think like you. So long, dinosaur.

Yes, but beware the cornered injured idealogs. They will not go quietly into the night. And they are not all isolated loners. With things like this one should consider the larger troubles to come.

Push me and I will push back hard and I don't care what the consequences are cause I have nothing to lose.
I am becoming more extreme and more radical.

I dare you to say your ignorant eructations to my face.

Ladies and gents, staff are processing several reports related to this thread. Please remember to address ideas instead of individuals.

An article from the Melbourne Age's US correspondent, Nick O'Malley:
There was little talk of gun control last weekend, when Joseph Loughrey accidentally shot his seven-year-old son Craig dead in Pennsylvania, as he climbed into the driver's seat of his truck holding a handgun.
Instead, the owner of the gun store the two had just visited sadly advised television cameras that even if you eject your magazine - as Loughrey had - you should always check to see there is no round left in the chamber.
Nor was there much talk of gun control on Tuesday when Jacob Tyler Roberts walked into a mall in Oregon with a semi-automatic AR-15 - the same military-style rifle used to kill the children in Newtown - and opened fire. Instead, many remarked on how lucky it was that the weapon had jammed after just two shots were fired.

Even after 12 were killed and 58 injured - again with an AR-15 - in the Aurora cinema shooting in Colorado in July, the US President, Barack Obama, ducked the issue, saying in a speech a few days later only that something must done about the general causes of violence.

There is no mystery about the silence. Gun advocates like the status quo. The last significant change to national gun control laws in the US was in 2004 when Congress allowed a ban on military style weapons, such as the AR-15, to expire.
Since then, the US's most formidable lobby group, the National Rifle Association, has won so many victories it hardly knows where to turn its sights next.
With gun sales barely regulated, the gun lobby has been fighting for laws that allow its members to carry their weapons more freely. In various constituencies it has fought for and/or won the right to carry loaded concealed weapons in bars, schools, malls, churches and even airports.
It has even made it easier for Americans to legally shoot their countryman dead - think of Florida's ''shoot first'' legislation.
Those politicians who would like to see gun laws reformed - such as Mr Obama - were cowed.
It is not that a majority Americans don't want to see new gun controls - polls show a small majority do - but that those who support gun control tend to cast their vote based on a variety of issues, from healthcare to the economy.
By contrast, gun advocates can be relied on to vote only in defence of their right to bear arms. In a country where voting is not compulsory, this makes them an almost invincible electoral bloc.
But with a small town primary school awash in the blood of 20 children, the debate the US's leaders have been avoiding has erupted.
In his tearful address to the nation, Mr Obama appeared willing to take the lead.
''We're going to have to come together and take meaningful action to prevent more tragedies like this, regardless of the politics,'' he said.
One of the few prominent American politicians unafraid of the gun lobby, the New York mayor, Michael Bloomberg, responded bluntly.
''Calling for 'meaningful action' is not enough … This is a national tragedy and it demands a national response,'' he said.
The only time he directly addressed guns on the national stage during the election, during the second debate, Mr Obama gave some indication of what action he might consider.
He said guns should be kept from the violent and the mentally ill. It is hard to see how that could be done. There are 310 million Americans and they own about 300 million guns.
What is certain is gun and ammunition sales will surge as people stock up in fear of bans. This has been the pattern after all recent mass killings. The best-selling products will be military-style weapons and ammunition of the sort used to kill Newtown's children.

If you would kindly pay my airfare and put away your guns I would consider your offer. But as you have demonstrated that you're a monster who is immune to logic and reason and would selfishly keep her guns and defend the right to bear arms at whatever the cost to others, I would have to consider your offer very, very carefully. And thanks for the internet threats.

We're looking at it. As you might imagine, it's not the best time of the week to get sufficient opinions and discussions to action everything.

If Americans want to change their gun laws they can vote to do so.

If not they get to suck up the collateral damage.

In the meantime PLEASE stop moaning about stuff like 20 dead kids. It's boring.
