Pennsyltucky! One of my friends over here is from Pittsburgh and he says that sometimes. I thought he made it up. He also brought back some Iron City beer once. I tried to buy beer there once, but couldn't figure out how or where.RPizzle wrote:The Amish are very interesting folk. Lancaster county in our state has the highest concentration of the Amish in the US, and probably the world. Our state is very divided, in that the Philly/Pittsburgh metro areas tend to be very highly democratic and progressive, while the central part of the state (I live here) is really backwoods and conservative. Central PA has the fun nickname of Pennsyltucky (as it mirrors the South).
On a side note, the Amish are the hardest working people I've ever seen. Stereotypical as it may be, they make very high quality furniture, and usually take little profit.
Oh yeah politics: I'm very liberal, Democratic Party (Obama campaign volunteer before the elections)
Might as well throw in religious views: Militant Atheist
Philosophy: Deterministic worldview, Moral relativist
There you go, for now! Keep them coming, I hold no sacred cows!
Jeez. I was just kiddin'.RPizzle wrote:I wouldn't say that I'm so much of a hick. The whole intellectualism, atheist, logic thing makes me a fairly big pariah around here.
Our local dialect is terrible though, very hick sounding. I try my best to suppress it.
Trust me...I want out of here as fast as humanly possible.
I had the same impression of Indiana. Left 14 hours after I escaped from high school. But now, looking back through 40 years . . . I do it sooner.RPizzle wrote:I wouldn't say that I'm so much of a hick. The whole intellectualism, atheist, logic thing makes me a fairly big pariah around here.
