Dare I say this "entitlement mindset" is a load of hyperbole? It is.

He's been at it again. This time blurting out stuff he really should not say even if he thinks it about Israel and Palestine, Iran and dirty bombs. I hope to fuck he doesn't get in. Doom will follow shortly behind at this rate..

Which is of course, indicative of his mindset that the poor and the elderly should be left out in the cold on their own, and that he's "not concerned" about them at all.

And this is indicative of the modern conservative mindset that poor people are just lazy assholes who enjoy being poor.

And what's particularly ironic about Romney's statement (and the broader conservative mantra) about those "entitlement minded" lazy people, is that they disproportionately live in red states!

http://www.theatlantic.com/politics/arc ... es/262499/

So recent history tells us that today's GOP isn't too fond of African-Americans, Latinos, women, gays, and now the 47% of Americans who don't pay federal income taxes. Is there any wonder why the Republican party is seen as the party of rich white males?

It's a way of dismissing people with lots of problems and very little power. "We, the rich people", if you know what I mean.

So listening to the right wing radio talk shows today, the consensus seems to be that 1) Romney was exactly right in that 47% of the American public have a "sense of entitlement", are victims, and are the "takers" rather than the "makers", and 2) Romney should have expressed this sentiment clearly and loudly a long time ago, and not doing so is yet another sign of the incompetence of his campaign.

Looks like when Romney loses this election, the conservatives will cite insufficiently conservative candidates (McCain, Romney) as a reason for Obama being a 2-term president and will push for the GOP to move even further to the right.

Should be interesting.

So, a politician says that lots of people just won't vote for him no matter what, and there's no point trying to get them to change their mind. Shock! Horror!

'Tis quite unbecoming of someone who aspires to be President.

Besides Romney being an utter shit, my main concern now would be his poor judgement. Do Americans really want someone who can make such bad calls in possession of the keys to the economy and that red button?

Let's hope not..

I guess that depends on how one is defining entitlement mindset. I see the view that the government should provide everyone with a certain level food, clothing, health care and shelter, and even vacations, as fairly common among Liberals on this forum.

He's not concerned about getting their vote. The poor and the elderly already have social programs to help them, so there isn't a need to have another welfare program to help them. The elderly get Social Security and Medicare, and the poor get Medicaid and food stamps and welfare and Section 8 Housing and the like.
