'The earth will continue to cleanse itself as material and negative things collapse and cease to be': Bill Roache reveals his apocalyptic spiritual beliefs
By Emma Gritt

To millions of soap fans, he's Coronation Street's Ken Barlow, Weatherfield's guardian of scientific logic and reason.

But off screen, actor Bill Roache has been raising eyebrows by spouting his slightly apocalyptic spiritual ramblings - leading to comparisons with former sports presenter David Icke.

The 80-year-old actor aired his views in Silent Voices, a magazine dedicated to the spiritual, metaphysical and paranormal, who asked him for his take the concept that humanity will expire at the same time the Mayan calendar ends.

He answered: 'This will be the Golden Age, when a majority will know they are love and they are spiritual beings.

'The earth will continue to cleanse itself while material and negative things collapse and cease to be.'

Scholars cite the date as being either the 12, 21 or 24 of December this year.

Who else would you get to translate Mayan hieroglyphics?
100% verifiable facts or your money back. Anti-fascist. Enemy of woo - theistic or otherwise. Cloth is not an antiviral. Imagination and fantasy is no substitute for tangible reality. Wishing doesn't make it real.

Is this a plotline on Corry?
