it seems to me that RDF and here are very different for one good reason RDF is a forum for arguement ,the fact is most people do not
remove their egos before an arguement.For some people arguement is their sport and they get very good at it.For some of these people
every arguement is like a pro-tennis game , you can almost hear them grunt with satisfaction when they break serve.
This forum was set up because of a common need for somewhere to go OT that is we are like picnic in the park.Ok there may be some
'sport' played but we tend to play frisbe or just sit around and giggle .

As for me i dont think I'm that different in RL, maybe slightly because I'm here during weekdays and sober ,
I would be interested if any of the people who have met me would let me know if they thought I had an online personna much different to RL?
Clashes online I try and ignore them as much as is possible.RL is full of people I can't stand ,sometimes minimal polite interactions cannot be avoided on forums as in RL .

I thought you were going to be extremely old too (as in the way Zilla is ) and CCL said the same thing when I went back to Edinburgh the week after we were there.

I've realised that I'm quite happy with myself and don't actually care what others think at all.
It's lead I think, in the last few years, to be able to make quite staggering life altering decisions without fear or hesitation and to be able to look forward to the next day.
The first person you should be friends with is yourself. Otherwise the "face" you show to others is just another mask.

Just kidding, of course. Actually, in real life, you've one more than I have. I have many aquaintances, some more friendly than others, and my children are very close, but there's only one person who really knows me, and who both criticises and accepts me, and for whom the sentiment and the relationship is mutual.

It's not the matter of being liked by others, but not shutting down your eyes before your own blunders, and most of all not being more critical of others than yourself, otherwise it's nothing but hypocrisy.

Self honesty is most important, otherwise we're deceiving ourselves even further into illusions of grandiosity, and everything turns into an even more wicked ego game.

Exactly, the point I was trying to make was, that finding the route cause of that critique and seeing if there is anything you can change to make is the path I take. If there is nothing that I can do (even with the help of others) about a trait I don't like then I must accept it and not lose any sleep over it. I don't think it's egotistical to think that way. I suspect the key is not the goal but the journey and I couldn't agree more about the self honesty.

Friends are over-rated anyway. Good friends are so rare that finding one is enough.
