Who watches the Watchmen?

Post by Trolldor » Thu Mar 05, 2009 6:35 am

I had minimal expectations, I had expected it to be an impressive movie... but not for the reasons it was. I had expected a superhero movie, but I was wrong.
I think the best way to describe this movie would be to say that this is "Watchmen".

Still gathering my thoughts...

I think, I'm sad.

Just a little.

Not because it was a bad movie.

But because it was a little too good.

What it brushed across.

Too real.

Too true.

Hmm...

It's not something you can talk about with someone who hasn't seen it.

There's not a single wasted part.

Everything means something, is part of the greater.

It affected me differently from the two I saw it with because the questions i brings foward I asked a long time ago... but they're big ones.

BAA, should you put a "spoilers" in the Subject line?

I've see the previews and I'm ambivalent about it. Not sure why, either.

No preview will do the movie justice.

No spoilers yet, because none have been revealed nor will they ever.

They changed the ending, and a few bits and pieces here and there....

But it works.
It fucking works.
It's like no comic movie before it.
They stay as faithful as they can to the comic.
They do not underestimate the audience either.

Oh, by the by, some bits are darker IMHO.

After V for Vendetta (which was okay, but...) I didn't have great expectations of Watchmen (also it being one of my favourite comic books, well... lot to live up to) but your post has me seriously excited now!

I am dying to see the film too. I only read the comic about a year ago, so it is all fresh, and there is always that worry that they will have botched it. Everything I have heard has been good so far though.

Not keen that you said they changed the ending.

I haven't read the graphic novel (ducks). I was hopin' to read it before the film came out. Maybe I can buy it tomorrow and cram it in before next week.

I'm gonna leave here to go see it in about 10mins.

Will let you know what I make of it.
