The Muslims are correct...
Uhuh. Why am I not surprised that you would think so?
The only problem with the Muslim policy on women in public is that it's mandatory, coercive and enforced against the will of some women.
That is a problem, but coercion is not the issue in this discussion. Please read the quoted bits of the Imam's sermon again, then tell me what Muslim view he expressed there that you disagree with.
No.

I'll tell you what I agree with though, and that's the notion that if women don't want to be viewed in public as sex objects, they probably ought to wear big black bags rather than short skirts, low-cut tops and push-up bras.

Which is the Muslim attitude towards women in a nutshell. Seeing you agree with that, QED.

What, I agree with a perfectly logical and common sense solution for people who choose not to display themselves as sex objects to leering men on the street?

Sure, I agree with that much of the "Muslim attitude." And what's wrong with that? I believe in personal liberty, including the liberty to wear a big black bag around town if that's what you want to do.

Or are you implying that agreeing with any component of Muslim religious belief is the same thing as agreeing with all Muslim religious belief, and somehow that's a bad thing?

There's a distinction that needs to be pointed out to a few feminists and also a few imams. That is: just because I might find a woman sexy, doesn't mean I see her only as a sex object.
What I've found with a few discussions I've had lately is this self-satisfaction that people express with their proffessed open mindedness. In realty it ammounts to wilful ignorance and intellectual cowardice as they are choosing to not form any sort of opinion on a particular topic. Basically "I don't know and I'm not going to look at any evidence because I'm quite happy on this fence."

Nobody but you said "only." You do, however, view her as a sex object. That's perfectly natural. I view my girlfriend (and a good many other women) as sex objects, but she's hardly ONLY a sex object. And just because I view them partially as sex objects does not mean that I disrespect them as human beings or fail to value them as individuals worthy of respect. I just find them sexually attractive, particularly when they are wearing cute short skirts...which is exactly as THEY intended.

Yes, it's all about pleasing men. That's what we live for.

Skirts and miniskirts rock - because they are comfortable. You don't have fabric flapping about between your legs like you do with a pair of shorts. Of course, it would require the ability to put oneself in another person's shoes to understand this, so it's no surprise you don't get it.

No, it's all about sex and the age-old power struggle between women and men. As a friend once said (as he was walking to the cashier with a box of tampons) "We do it all for that liiiiittle hole..."

Skirts and miniskirts rock - because they are comfortable.
And sexy.
You don't have fabric flapping about between your legs like you do with a pair of shorts.

And you can bend over and be easily fucked from behind (or in front) too...
Of course, it would require the ability to put oneself in another person's shoes to understand this, so it's no surprise you don't get it.
Hey, I own and wear a kilt, so I understand it completely.

Of course, it's also nice that they are sexy and can be used to manipulate men into admiring you sexually.

Are you saying women never wear miniskirts because they look sexy? Seriously?

Where did I say that?

I said that women don't only wear miniskirts to please men, and that women wear miniskirts for other reasons besides looking sexy.

I sometimes wear a sort of mini sarong, anyone thinking "sexy" when they see that either needs new glasses or some weapons-grade pharmaceuticals.
Yeah well that's just, like, your opinion, man.
