Beekeeping

Post by Meekychuppet » Tue Jun 16, 2009 7:46 am

Where have all the bees gone?

Does anybody have any knowledge/involvement with this? Yes, I know Steve Vai does it, but I am fascinated.

They're starting a reintroduction programme of the native black honeybee in the UK. They're hardier than the introduced varieties. I once almost applied for a job as an apprentice beekeeper, but then I saw the wage and realised I couldn't afford to pay the mortgage if I did. Pesky mortgage slavery. :lay:

I found a free ebook on Lulu which seems helpful. I only want to do it in my spare time. The gardens I am clearing and redoing at home are so spacious that I want to do something like this. I am already planning would be cool too. I want to sell all of this home-made stuff for charity.

Aha! Cool!

Well, my cider is going to be 'Whittaker and Nichols' Applejack Special' so I need a name for my honey. Hmm...

I'm quite excited that you're considering becoming an Apiarist, Meeky! I find it a fascinating hobby and it is certainly something I would consider if I were a landed gentleman. I wish you luck in your beekeeping endeavors.

Oh bee hive yourself.
It's a piece of piss to be cowiz, but it's not cowiz to be a piece of piss. Or something like that.

This thread is in the serious sub-forum. You think you're punny? Well, you're not. Continue and I shall take great pleasure in abusing my power (and your bottoms).

I have bees in a garden. I want them not. Bee gone I said, but they turned a deaf earwig.

Any ideas on how to get rid of them/ move them/ negotiate with them. I like them, but one sting and they are toast.

Find a local beekeeper and he/she will come and smoke them out and take them away. We had a swarm a few yrs ago and our local Beekeeper came and did just what I said.

Our local beekeeper is a hippie. His truck sign says, "I'll make your honey high."
