Several surveys have shown that atheists know more about religion than theists.
And have a higher average IQ.
And are better educated.
And a significantly lower rate of criminal conviction.

Basically we are nicer, smarter, more knowledgeable - just plain superior.

This one is also more modest!

Yep, atheists tend to know more about religion than many fundies - although don't ask me to recite the the Koran any day soon.

We know about it because we had it drummed into us and/or we like to be able to point out some of the many ways it's a crock of shite.

It's because I know so much about religion, after 4 or 5 years searching for God, that I'm an atheist. I didn't just lazily believe the stuff I was brought up with. I made a concerted effort to kearn about world religions. It just so happened the more I learned the more obvious it became it's just made-up nonsense. It's not much of a surprise many atheists understand religion better than religious people. Often we're the ones who asked questions, sought answers, and came away empty-handed.

Same here. I lost my religion shortly after I took an interest in "mythology" in junior high school. I began to read about Egyption, Greek, Scandinavian, and other "mythologies", so it was only a matter of time before I put two and two together and thought to myself, "Hmmm what makes Christianity different from the others? Why is Christianity called religion, and the others mythology? Maybe mythology and religion are the same goddamned thing?"


Most religious people aren't very religious anyway. My religious friends never actually go to church, nor do they actually know jack shit about their holy texts. They are only religious insofar as they will answer in the affirmative to the question "Do you believe in god?" The whole thing is rather silly.

They know how to answer the question. That's all that's needed. "Do you believe in God?" If you answer yes, the majority ignores you. If you answer no, the majority persecutes you. So most people go the safe route.

Nope. But I've never been the sort of atheist who goes around calling religious people "fucktards" and or "fuckwits", so I tend to get along with Jesus freaks just fine.

You can be denied the right to hold public office in several states. The fundies preach that we're not patriots or even good citizens, and we're the least trusted group of all. But worse is the fact that fundies want to make their beliefs mandatory. There's a fight ahead in this country.
