Looks like the documentary has stirred things up. Politicians are calling for the cardinal to resign. And so he should.

Ani: I know a little about the history, though not as much as I would like. I know that going back to King James there was an act of Parliament forcing all the Irish to become Anglicans, but that was repealed in the early 1800s from what I have read, which is where I would date the slow takeover of the minds and hearts of its people by the dark side!

Re: BBC2 tonight at 9: The Shame of the Catholic Church
http://www.independent.ie/national-news ... 97677.htmlEarlier in the day, Fr Brian D’Arcy, censored by the Church in his work as a journalist, said Cardinal Brady should reflect on his position in light of claims that he failed to protect children abused by notorious paedophile priest Brendan Smyth.
The priest mentioned, Fr. Brian D'Arcy, is an outspoken journalist and columnist who has been censored by his superiors at the Vatican for his views on things like allowing women priests. He has to hand up articles for submission to them before they go to publishing.

cont. http://www.independent.ie/national-news ... 99251.htmlA WOMAN, who was sexually abused as a child by paedophile priest Brendan Smyth, today called for a criminal investigation into the actions of Cardinal Sean Brady.
American lawyer Helen McGonigle, (50) who now campaigns for survivors of clerical sexual abuse, said the All Ireland Primate should resign for not alerting other families to Smyth’s horrific catalogue of abuse.
She was molested by Smyth in the late 1960s in Rhode Island, New York.
Speaking to BBC Radio Ulster today, Ms McGonigle said she was "outraged" by Cardinal Brady's response to allegations in a BBC documentary broadcast this week.
She said Cardinal Sean Brady's "duty as a human" was to protect children and his failure to act properly on Brendan Boland's complaint – when he named other five other children being abused - was "unforgivable".

Re: BBC2 tonight at 9: The Shame of the Catholic Church
http://www.independent.ie/national-news ... 98229.htmlONE of Ireland’s most conservative and respected Catholic theologians has said that Cardinal Sean Brady has lost his moral authority and should resign.
Fr Vincent Twomey has pleaded with the church to reexamine its role and asked where is the humanity to connect with the pain of children who have been abused.
The retired Professor of Moral Theology at Maynooth, told Primetime on RTE 1, that there were issues about the failure to alert parents to other victims of paedophile priest Brendan Smyth, that the church must address.
“For the good of the church, it is really tragic, but I’m afraid I am of the opinion that he should resign,” he said.
If he's not gone by the end of next week I'll be very surprised.
Well. Not really.

My opinion has always been that the Pope should recall pedophile and other deviant priests back to the Vatican, and then execute them. But still pray for their souls of course.
A rational skeptic should be able to discuss and debate anything, no matter how much they may personally disagree with that point of view. Discussing a subject is not agreeing with it, but understanding it.

Here's hoping for cardinally good riddance

"The internet is made of people. People matter. This includes you. Stop trying to sell everything about yourself to everyone. Don’t just hammer away and repeat and talk at people—talk TO people. It’s organic. Make stuff for the internet that matters to you, even if it seems stupid. Do it because it’s good and feels important. Put up more cat pictures. Make more songs. Show your doodles. Give things away and take things that are free." - Maureen J
