I think "Being right" is probably high on husbands' and wives' lists.

hadespussercats wrote:"Honey, what would you say the 7 basic needs of a husband are?"
"Needs?"
"Yeah. The 7 basic needs. Of a husband."
"Uhhhhh... Water. What?"
"Hee hee hee! No, go on-- I like where this is going."
"Okay. So-- water... ...
foooood... ... shelter... . . . . sleep...
hmmm...
Love."
"That's really far down on the list, honey!"
"Well. How many is that?"
"Five. You've got two left."
[extended period of thinking.]
"Kitties."
"Aw."
"And-- the sprog."
"That's a nice list, sweetie."
On any of these issues, there is a defense mechanism men have. He's not going to say anything that would get you upset. We know how this works....hadespussercats wrote:Ian wrote:What a progressive guy.hadespussercats wrote:"Honey, what would you say the 7 basic needs of a husband are?"

Discussing the concept of the female "hint" and "...if you don't already know, I'm not going to tell you..." stuff might take a whole 'nother thread....lolhadespussercats wrote:#5-- I've heard a lot of men claim that one. The Seven Basic Needs of a Husband - Revised Edition - the order varies:
1. Pizza
2. Beer
3. Football without interruption, please.
4. A blowjob at half-time.
5. Straight talk - Don't beat around the bush or hint.
6. A home cooked meal.
7. Dirty sex (and maybe throw your hot girlfriend into the mix?)

Well, sure. But try to talk to most men about a haircut after they've passed 30? Worse than "Do these jeans make me look fat?" any day of the week.Coito ergo sum wrote:Discussing the concept of the female "hint" and "...if you don't already know, I'm not going to tell you..." stuff might take a whole 'nother thread....lolhadespussercats wrote:#5-- I've heard a lot of men claim that one. I'm not sure what you're getting at concerning the haircut. Do we hint about haircuts?hadespussercats wrote:

I think that's why most guys at a certain age just buy some clippers and call it done.
Eventually, we all learn that....hadespussercats wrote: Yeah, he's smart. I ain't gonna lie. He knows which side the bread's buttered on.
I'm talking about the bald spot, or the receding hairline.Coito ergo sum wrote:I'm not sure what you're getting at concerning the haircut. Do we hint about haircuts?hadespussercats wrote:

Oh - you mean if we ask you "does our haircut look good?" it's like the no-win "do these jeans make me look fat?" question? I'd never heard of that.
Oh!hadespussercats wrote:I'm talking about the bald spot, or the receding hairline.Coito ergo sum wrote:I'm not sure what you're getting at concerning the haircut. Do we hint about haircuts?hadespussercats wrote:

I don't think men generally ask for the consoling response, the way women do-- but they are definitely self-conscious/preoccupied/need to be handled with kid gloves a bit about it. At least at first.Coito ergo sum wrote:Oh!hadespussercats wrote:I'm talking about the bald spot, or the receding hairline.Coito ergo sum wrote:I'm not sure what you're getting at concerning the haircut. I was of the impression that most men are realists about it. Do you find that we are like the "do these jeans make me look fat?" thing when the baldness issue comes up?
I don't mind that stuff.Coito ergo sum wrote:I've heard women say it was a turn-off for men to discuss their appearance out loud.
CES's Theorem on Women #964 - Women want a man to be well dressed and well-groomed, but they don't want him fretting about it like a girl. So, advice to men is, even if you're not, act confident about your appearance, and don't talk about weight loss around women you want to date. Women don't want a guy to be more concerned about his appearance than they are about theirs.
Most of us don't worry that much about that stuff. The hair, yes, I'll give you that. Guys don't want to go bald. We want hair, and we want are dicks to work reasonably well. Beyond that, we're pretty flexible...hadespussercats wrote:I don't mind that stuff.Coito ergo sum wrote:I've heard women say it was a turn-off for men to discuss their appearance out loud.

I just remember being surprised the first time I realized men do worry about that stuff.
