Maybe we should just take them to the range and shoot the shit out of them.
He can clean up.

What a well brought up son, maybe you should encourage him to set things on fire as well, a can of petrol and matches for this birthday.

Why don't you go fuck yourself.
I'll not tolerate you speaking about my son in this derogatory manner.
You are an ignorant asshole.

I agree completely with Gallstones, and there are some "crass and insensitive" comments that deserve precisely the response she gave, so fuck off.
Seth, lots of people agree completely with Gallstones' sentiment. But there are rules about how sentiment gets expressed that apply to all of us here. Even she said she knew the reminder was coming.

My sense of you is that you value rules being applied equally, regardless of circumstance.

I don't agree with him destroying the laptop, but like how he responded to her facebook comment.
I totally agree with that.

Yeah. Using guns and destruction to make the child rearing point is what turns me off here. She's petulant and immature in a facebook rant, but she's a child and immature by definition. He's an adult and he sinks to the same level.
I'd like to qualify that statement because a conversation I had elsewhere on the web made me think a little more.

When my father handed me a gun to shoot at a target for the first time, it was awesome on so many levels. First, guns go "bang" and for a lot of boys, that alone makes them great fun. Also, they can make other things go "boom", "splat" and so on which adds to the awesomeness. Second, it was part of the adult world that I was given access to, even if it was highly supervised. But mostly, it was an expression of trust and contemplating just how much I was trusted made me feel validated and empowered (even though I didn't know the words at the time) in a profound way. Guns were the most dangerous thing I knew of and here was one in my hand!

So the point is, guns can be used positively in child rearing. I still think, based on just what was presented in the video, that the father was a massive douche and what he did was overkill on orders of magnitude greater than a young girl bitching about chores to her friends.
What I've found with a few discussions I've had lately is this self-satisfaction that people express with their proffessed open mindedness. In realty it ammounts to wilful ignorance and intellectual cowardice as they are choosing to not form any sort of opinion on a particular topic. Basically "I don't know and I'm not going to look at any evidence because I'm quite happy on this fence."

Doesn't mean I can't express my displeasure with MrJonno or the Mods. Since I can't directly tell MrJonno what I think of him, I have to express it more circumspectly, through a proxy.

We'll send an advance notice we're coming. Be expecting it constantly because it'll arrive as a very sudden surprise. You won't ever hear or see it till it arrives.

We have no way of knowing for sure that MrJonno is not a gun nut in denial and behaving like certain homophobic Republican senators do about other issues. :coffee:

So you insult the messenger?

Couldn't you tell, by the wording of the reminder, that the staff were also critical of Mr Jonno's post?

Can you possibly be unaware, given your long history here, that staff policy leaves us no option but to issue a reminder to Gallstones?

Finally, "I can't express my displeasure with MrJonno or the Mods"? Really? This is bollocks. You can express your displeasure with anything and everything here. What you can't do is do so in a way that includes personal insults and attacks.
