Lovely in theory, but here Rick Perry, et al., doesn't want to leave us alone. He wants to decide what we can think. Brings out the feral in me.
I live in the NYC area where there's lots of diversity and people tend to mind their own business. I guess I would see things differently if I lived in "God's Country".
You see a pickup with "Nobody needs more than one Book" and a couple of long guns in the Easy Rider Rifle Rack(tm) around here.

Ayaan has never met most of my relatives because they would insult her and I'd have to kill them.

Goering was quoted as saying that "whenever somebody speaks to me of intelligence, I reach for my pistol". I guess Goering's spirit is alive and well in the longhorn state. Perhaps you guys want to re-consider your desire to join the union?

Goring is misquoted, of course. One Nazi did say "Whenever culture is mentioned, I reach for my gun."
BTW, I live in Missouri. One of our fellow Ratz lives in Austin however.

Blame Camus, not me.

Austin is the liberal oasis of Texas, but the nutters come to town every two years and pretend to do government.
I think of the gnu atheists as the front point shock troops who go into an area and disrupt the pre-existing systems. Then the society-builders come in after and set up the new way. It's exhausting to be on the point all the time, so wanting to rotate off is understandable.

So, batshit in Austin is not that uncommon?

Batshit insanity is common when the legislature is in town.
It's not actually a bat cave, they formed a colony in the openings between the concrete sections of the Congress Avenue bridge.

I definitely won't avoid the term, but I won't be so focused.
Ditch labels. Refuse to accept classification other than Human, that's quite enough.

Ugh. I hate that term. It's so elitist. I prefer
bio-org.

Libertarianism: The belief that out of all the terrible things governments can do, helping people is the absolute worst.
