Maybe they'd be good points if I was serious.
Anti-gun rants are rarely excellent anyway. More often ignorant and emotionally charged.
I thought he was referring to Feck's post.

Really? Bringing up Cambodia and cluster bombs is relevant? Calling me naive and my idea simplistic isn't an ad hominem? Comparing it to post-war nation building isn't a non sequitur? I think you're definition of an "excellent point" needs some adjusting.
Ok, you make some good points too.
I still don't think his entire post was a BS rant though. It would be great to get into these types of discussions without them always getting personal.

Yeah but yeah but yeah but guns kill people. Gun owners are psychotic cowboy wannabes. You're more likely to get killed by your own weapon. Won't somebody think of the children?
That's about all I can think of off the top of my head.
Yeah well that's just, like, your opinion, man.

Oh yeah - if you own guns then you must want to give nuclear weapons to kids.
Forgot that one.

Until the women start standing up against it, and they can fire a gun almost

as well as a man, nothing will change.
A rational skeptic should be able to discuss and debate anything, no matter how much they may personally disagree with that point of view. Discussing a subject is not agreeing with it, but understanding it.

I agree with Feck insofaras guns aren't the primary weapon ... Those women need more than guns, they need to see that they are not vessels of sin, they are not to blame for the violent behaviour of men, they have equal rights as human beings, and they deserve to be treated as such. Fuck, they've got a long way to go.
Those fucked up sons of theirs need to see that too.

In the long term, sure. But until the Taliban joins the 21st century (something I'm not holding my breath for) than a 9mm is the only answer. Actually at short range a .22Mag would do the trick.
Yeah well that's just, like, your opinion, man.

Actually they need to move out , Nothing would teach the Taliban the error of their evil ways like every single woman being taken to a better country .
(it's a silly idea I know ) but a population of Mus-lame men would have huge fun with their views if all the women could leave !
Considering that WOMEN do all the cooking ...and kitchens have knives and boiling water !... and men sleep .... lack of weapons is not the problem !

I agree...weapons alone won't do it. I need to find out what women's movements provide this badly needed outside support...if you know of some already Charlou please share. (vs the atheist/non believer ones that I am already familiar with)
I really wish I did.
maiforpeace wrote:charlou wrote:Feck wrote:A lovely idea but Naive . What do you think would happen to the first woman to defend herself ?
Women are already dying .. they might as well be fighting for their emancipation while they're at it.

Yup, this is definitely revolution worthy.
I definitely think so.
This shit comes up again and again .. and it's always responded to in terms of how fucked their religion is (and it is truly fucked) so let's just rag on religion ... but the thinking needs to go further than that .. This is hardcore violence against women, and it needs a hardcore response ... coming from the women themselves, with as much support as they can get.
Less incendiary, still relevant: What are the details of the cultural issues, and what are the solutions?

Damn, if we would just legalize polygamy and Mrs. Lak would agree then I could help maybe 3 or 4 of them. I'm a real social activist, that's how I roll.

You are calling for a slaves revolt ? I agree it would be good but I can see no way of it happening except through gradual change look at Pakistan or rural India, women are not much better off , and they have had liberal women in high office .
Spartacus NEARLY won look what happened ! the Romans just about ran out of Nails !

It's abhorrent and the effects incredibly devastating.
Aside ... this might sound callous or naive, but I don't mean it to ... I wonder if a child in our relatively affluent society could survive that level of malnutrition? How is it that those people suffer so long before succumbing?
