80 ft tall demons? I've seen plenty of those, but only in movies, whatever those chretins are having, I want some too.

They believe that a politician vying for office will be honest and improve their lots... after that, swallowing the sky daddy tales is routine.

Although it may look like a forum, this site is actually a crowd-sourced science project modelling the slow but inexorable heat death of the universe.

A rational skeptic should be able to discuss and debate anything, no matter how much they may personally disagree with that point of view. Discussing a subject is not agreeing with it, but understanding it.

I find this so hard to imagine. The closest I came to something like that was when I was about 13, and the family was on the way home from mass. I was doing my usual rational critique of the nonsense through which I'd been forced to sit. I was saying things like Adam and Eve and The Flood were nonsense.

My Dad, irked at this smart aleckery from his upstart son began to insist that priests were very learned, and that these stories were true. I could tell that he didn't mean it even as he was saying it.

That was it. He closest I came to that kind of idiocy at home.

Even the Jesuits that taught me in secondary school didn't attempt to give us that nonsense.
