Having taken lots of L.S.D. in the 80's and 90's taken a few McKenna style heroic doses (5dried grams or more of musrhooms) while doing ritual magic, which I was quite involved in. I can attest to this, our imaginations are pretty fucking amazing, but these are internal experiences. It is a category error to consider altered perceptions as relating to external physical reality, unless one is demented to begin with.

I know quite a bit about Stanislav Grof, especially his work on peri-natal matrices, in much the same way as I know about R.D. Laing's work with L.S.D (I even at one time worked in the same hospital). Their work is interesting as romance, but like every other "genius" who has tried to come up with some map of how the mind works, whether it be Leary and Wilson's neo-cabalistic heirarchy of imprints, or McKenna's invisible landscape and timewave, it tells us nothing about the fundamental concept of an external creator of a physical universe.

Does it involve dosing unwilling people, tossing them in a cell with red strobe lights, images of people being tortured and burned, a great big mural of satan on one wall, and people's tortured screams, evil laughter and a subliminal 'submit to Jesus and you'll be saved' being piped in over a loud speaker?
