You're nice. But there are some people here who most definitely are not, and I just want them to leave me alone, period. They can try to fix it later; like Robert says, I don't write most people off. But when someone fucks up good and solid, I expect them to admit it and move on to start fixing it, not get all chickenshit and arrogant with me. If they do, I'm liable to get hostile. And I don't get over it until they stop fucking with me. That can take a year or more. I'm like a cat in that; scare a cat once and they never forget it.

I'm sorry, I didn't read anything Tigger said beyond the first lie, which I quoted and refuted with obvious evidence, plain-as-the-nose-on-your-face stuff. Nor will I; I do not appreciate being lied to, and the penalty is, if you had something to say, you have to re-post it without the insult or lie. That's how I get rid of trolls.

It rather concerns me that some of the more active and vocal among the staff have behaved like trolls on this thread. I have even had a threat from a staff member, specifically Tigger, and yes, it's a threat, and yes, I showed how his attempt to maneuver around it is a lie, right there in as many words. I don't appreciate that much, either. I think there are some people on staff with some emotional problems that they need to work on, and I don't intend to help them. I don't get paid enough.

What I want is simple: be nice or stay the fuck away from me. Do not play power games that include me; I don't want any power, I just want to be left alone. I am not interested in other peoples' power, it doesn't impress me, and if I have to deal with it my general modus operandi is to fight. It's probably better to just leave me alone if folks can't be polite.

Schneibster, I like you and when you first showed up I was pretty happy that you did. You have demonstrated that you can make interesting contributions, you also present my political position much better than I do. But your tone comes off really abrasive sometimes and it is hard to deal with. I'm willing to work with it and be patient and not get woo worked up about with that aspect of your posting, but you really should consider cutting other people some slack in return.

Robert, I appreciate your forthrightness, but I remember your earlier behavior as well.

That's about it. It should be good enough for an adult understanding. Adults respect the spirit of their agreements, not just the letter, and adults correct themselves when they find themselves doing wrong. That is a great deal of what concerned me here, was that not happening.

My perspective is that whatever disagreements we might have in the Serious Stuff, we should try to keep them civil and friendly enough that we can exchange banter in the Pub at the same time. This is not my Official Moderator Policy, but my feeling as an ordinary member.

As a moderator, I have a lot of inner conflict when it comes to trying to be fair and even handed. Going by the spirit of the rules is dangerous since I'm liable to be biased to one side or the other, then there is the danger of over-correction where I could be inclined to come down unfairly hard the side I personally favor.

That's why I'm glad I'm not expected to make these decisions alone. It may take hours for the other mods to weigh in, but then we get (usually, hopefully) a fairer decision.

I'll admit that I should have handled the situation earlier in this thread better. I actually got mod-o-fied in the middle of all that and was still trying to adjust to my new role here. I'll review the whole thing and give an apology for what I honestly believe warrants one.
