I'm just glad they didn't commit a war crime by capturing him and holding him in indefinite detention. Whew! Thankfully the Libyan war is being waged by civilized people.

Qadafi wasn't under indictment, and his regime had not committed any crimes (since the mid-1980s, and one of the guys convicted of the Lockerbie affair was release a year or two ago...), and had not gone to war or attacked anyone, or threatened anyone outside of its borders, had no designs on catastrophic weapons and had affirmatively undertaken to comply with UN inspections in that regard, was not in violation of any UN resolutions, and the sole pretext for the invasion and his ultimate death was the prediction that if there was a civil war that Qadafi might kill civilians.... so, the western powers invaded, killed civilians, and helped execute Qadafi and most of his family, without arrest, without due process, without trial, without the benefit of counsel...

....but, Iraq...well, much different - war crime, that. Hussein had not gone to war and attacked anyone (except Kuwait and Iran, and Israel with scuds), hadn't threatened anyone outside its borders (except Israel, the UK, the US, Iran, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Turkey...), and the sole pretext for the invasion of Iraq was Hussein's violation of the Cease Fire Accords, violation of 12 successive UN resolutions, mass slaughter of his own people with chemical weapons, firing on US and UK aircraft in the UN No Fly Zone, and suspicion that he had restarted his catastrophic weapons programs which he had previously used to commit mass murder on Kurds and Shia Muslims to consolidate his hold on his dictatorship...)....

You're not saying that the casus belli for the Libyan War was a mere pretext for western European powers "stealing all the oil," are you? Come on, you know as well as I do that such an accusation only makes sense when leveled at the US when a Republican President is in power. The UK, France, and the U.S. Democratic Party have no concern for oil. Everybody knows that.
