A tectonic shift in one's ethics?
Not really. I'm fairly certain I've been consistent on the point that dishonesty and lying are not immoral or amoral in themselves.

Define "significant" and explain how closely the flooding you mention matches the Noah Flood, please? :FIO:
Wasn't Noah's flood just the flooding of the Tigris river or some such?

Anyway, lots of cultures have flood myths - cultures which were never influenced by the babble. Symbology. :levi:

I suppose any group of people along the coasts (rising sea levels) or rivers (how melt water reaches the ocean) world wide would be adversely affected. While glaciers may melt at a near constant rate over time, the release of melt water may occur in sudden bursts due to ice dams breaking. Releasing water weight from land causes the land to rebound, which may cause earth quakes, tsunamis, and vulcanism. Not a pleasant time to live through I am sure.
A rational skeptic should be able to discuss and debate anything, no matter how much they may personally disagree with that point of view. Discussing a subject is not agreeing with it, but understanding it.

I've lived through annual flooding on major rivers. Check the Ton Le Sap sometime for a benchmark. These are not "significant world wide flooding". Nowhere near the scale posited by the Noah Flood.

But you're not (quite) a stupid, isolated tribal who believes in the great sky god. :hehe:

Annual flooding :funny:
Are you serious that you compare an annual flooding derived from yearly snow melt to the glacial melt at the end of the last ice age?
Of course you've never seen a global flood because that only happens when sea levels rise :prof:

Think of all those over populated third world countries that whine and cry for your money every time they have a natural disaster, now imagine a tsunami on top of rising sea levels. A record breaking tsunami with no satellite warning might practicaly wipe clean the slate in some areas.

You still fall far short of a Noah Flood, my man. Keep trying, of course.

You deny any flood except for some small localized ones in recent history, even when presented with scientific evidence. Or is it that the time line goes back further than 6,000 years :funny:

Just as naive as the creationists, too scared to look at any science that threatens your world view.

Of course! So there was a flood! 20,000 years ago at the end of the last ice age! It all makes sense now! The fundies are right and the world is a far simpler place with a benevolent father-creator that loves us all! :woot:

What's that you say? The Earth is only 6,000 years old, not 20,000? Ah well, back to relying on science and shit in that case... :sigh:
