About as exciting as watching two alcoholic pensioners attempting to fight each other in a pub. In my opinion it is boring and pathetic rather than funny.

ETA: No, Laklak. I have added A+ to my list of boring, pathetic things to ignore quite some time ago. In fact, they went straight to the top of it, considering that among that lot there's less grey matter to be found than in the dicks of either PZ or Dawk.

Last I heard they had someone who was HIV+ saying it was discrimination for them to have to tell their future partners. There was even a cannibal on there, so they have been eaten, have HIV or both. I would have recommended it to Rainbow but I don't think he likes eating food seasoned with HIV, fussy eater that lad.

UCL released a statement on 15 June describing Sir Tim's resignation as a "personal decision" and "a sad and unfortunate outcome of the comments he made in a speech last week".

"Media and online commentary played no part in UCL's decision to accept his resignation."

A spokesperson for UCL declined to comment any further when contacted by The Independent. The Royal Society said it would not be commenting further on the matter at this stage.

I only included Dawkins link for the lulz because I know how popular he is around here. He is obviously out of touch with current events so read the other two links I give.

So let's try to put this into the story: he made the comments at the time and the people questioned him where he reaffirmed his beliefs. He was asked after the speech by a journalist who he says he can be honest with because she seems tougher than most women and won't cry on him, where he reaffirms his belief. He then attempts his first apology where he reaffirms his belief.

And now apparently the Daily Mail has found out that he doesn't really believe those things and said something different?

That's some amazing skeptic work there Dave, and entirely convenient that it happens to confirm your prior beliefs when we ignore all other evidence to the contrary.

Probably not, they just banned everyone else. So a forum that used to have over 2,000 members now has about 5 mods talking to each other. They might as well just talk to each other using skype. :{D

The journalist in question is Deborah Blum.
They also noted that although Hunt belatedly called his remarks an attempt at humor, he had earlier defended them as “trying to be honest.” (That was certainly what he said to me among others.)

And #timhunt said that while he meant to be ironic, he did think it was hard to collaborate with women because they are too emotional......

That that he was trying to be honest about the problems. Confirmed by Kathryn O'Hara who took the photo. So I'm finding all this.....

Just a joke damage control by #timhunt less than truthful.

My position has been the same from the start of this thread, I don't care if he meant it or not. He has done more for science and more for women in science than all the outrage brigade have or will ever do. The latest information if true will just show the mendacity of his opponents, that's all.

No surprise to see women in STEM aren't fainting couch crybabies.

You're going to need to be a bit more specific about what "beliefs" you think he reaffirmed.
“When I was in college, I took a terrorism class. ... The thing that was interesting in the class was every time the professor said ‘Al Qaeda’ his shoulders went up, But you know, it is that you don’t say ‘America’ with an intensity, you don’t say ‘England’ with the intensity. You don’t say ‘the army’ with the intensity,” she continued. “... But you say these names [Al Qaeda] because you want that word to carry weight. You want it to be something.” - Ilhan Omar

Hi Mr S!
Hi DD!

Well it sounds like Hunt is yet another bigoted old white man. It's a shame so many old twits have to end their lives in irrelevance. They could be so much better.
