My understanding is that meiosis is requisite for sex, lest the progeny all be tetraploid.... then octoploid..... then fucking big numbers-ploid. But you know that, silly girl.

Test tomorrow? Good luck! :flowers:

um....
p + q = 1? (square both sides and you have) p2 + 2pq + q2 = 12

You're welcome. :razzle: :flowers: :smooch:

My favorite: To make biology students cry.

Also, to test the hypothesis that a population is in equilibrium and, if not, to get some idea of which allele is favored by the disequilibrium. I think. It's been a long time.

But a population CANNOT be at HWE...the assumptions are rediculous! :what:

k so how do I calculate broad-sense and narrow-sense heritability?

HWE only applies within a single generation, it can't be used within familial linkage studies because the allele frequencies always change between generations. However it is a good indicator of whether genotyping error has occured (usually type I), indicative of selection pressure (affecting allele frequency naturally), non-random mating (like them thar redneckz), etc.

Basically it means something else is going on if there is a significant deviation from HWE. You also have to be careful in what test you use to detect deviation, i.e. [math]/chi[/math]2 or Fishers-Exact test.

Am I too late? :?

Why do pigeons have pentachromatic vision? In what way does it benefit them in their day-to-day task of being a pigeon, and doing pigeon things?
