How do Muslims wash their arses?

Is there some specific method Muslims use for washing their arses after they shit? I understand that some take a bottle of water into the toilet with them, but I have no idea exactly what they do with it. Do arse washing practices vary from place to place or from person to person? Anyone know anything about it? I know a couple of Muslims, but not well enough to ask for arse washing tips.

From my interactions with young men from Islamic backgrounds, and supplementary reading and experience, I can confirm that they do indeed need to rinse their toilet parts after urination or defecation. In Muslim households here in the West, they usually have a jug next to the loo or something to that effect - whereas in Muslim countries, there's usually a nifty little hand-held shower-hose thingy next to the loo - even in public toilets. Like this. That one I discovered passing through Dubai on the way to Australia.

If you do away with the bollocks superstition attached to this, and particularly that stuff about stones(!) - I think it's actually quite good - particularly the shower-hose thing in the loos. And thanks to their anal-retentive religious hygiene codes, Dubai airport has free shower rooms! The showers barely approach lukewarm, mind, and they're basic - but you can actually have a proper wash when you step off the plane feeling in need of just that - instead of sitting in a toilet cubicle and going over yourself with wet-wipes while removing clothing and replacing it with fresh clothes bit by bit, as I did shortly after arriving in Melbourne.
