But, if Salmond does get his way, and Scots DO get lots more money, they will probably up sticks, and move to Greece, and live next door to SIR Sean Canary, the greatest living ''Scotsman''.
As I said before, if the Scots really do have that much oil, they'll have to be a net contributor to the EU from day one.

We look forward to the Scots financing some social cohesion projects, in, say ... Somerset.

Or simply being told of the real consequences of a yes vote...
The EU admitting that Scotland will get a shitty deal (good PR that for the EU newbies) if it joins as an independent nation? Bank of England saying it will take its ball home if the skirt wearers vote no. I don't know if it is a good idea for Scotland to vote yes but I can smell propaganda when it stinks out the place.

It's not propaganda if it's true.

It would be hardly ethical to give the Scots false confidence of the ease of EU membership, or for the UK govt to wait till after the vote, to mention that they wouldn't want to share a currency.

If I tell a student that the inevitable consequence of failing to submit an assignment on tine (other than a legitimate medical reason) is a detention, is that bullying?

Yeah all the negative stories appearing around the same time. There has to be some sort of currency agreement or business will suffer on both sides of the border, a border that will never be physical. Nor will there ever be a need for visas for any nationals because rUK will have to make the transition easy for its own population. Independence will be hard on Scotland but will be carried along on a nationalistic wave.

I'd hate to be someone born in England, who considers themselves British, and who was living in Scotland just now.
