Thatcher wasn't popular? Hmmm.... I recall Thatcher being quite popular, and effective. But, then again, I am over here in the States, and I was in my youth at the time, so I am sure my information is incomplete in part and incorrect in part.
Maybe the next PM can get the UK into a silly war many thousands of miles away and win themselves re-election.
The Falklands has been done... :think:

The islands are British territory and the islanders are British. A government have a duty to protect it's citizens, do they not?
What would America do if Japan attacked Hawaii?
I was wondering that myself. I mean, didn't Argentina try to take over the Falklands? I'm not sure what the beef is with the UK protecting its territory.

Whatever else Thatcher was guilty of, her decisive actions to regain the Falklands met with my full approval...

So, what's the word from the UK?

Conservative majority?
Hung Parliament?

We won't really know much until after midnight tonight. 8.5 hours away.

Also, what exit polls? It's illegal to release exit poll results until efter the stations close.

Indeed. I was going to say something along those lines myself. I know it would certainly be verboten here in Ireland. Sheesh, it's all the media can do to comment on how brisk voting is at any point, whilst steering clear of any inferences on who this might favour.

Here is the real exit poll:

Conservatives = 307 seats
Labour = 255
Liberal Democrats = 59
Others = 29

Which is a hung parliament. The Lib Dems have actually lost 3 seats since the last election.:fp: I hope the real results are more favourable.

I like all the people on the Lib Dem facebook group simply saying

" :wtf: "
In the best laid plans of history lie the ruins of the past
And a chronicle of suffering shows the mythic pall they cast
To believe is true religion, but to see is truth at last
Oh no, too late to hold a trial, time doesn't wait for the watchmaker's dial

You need to see the percentages to see if "Cleggmania" had any effect, 'cause it could be the case that the Lib Dems support has grown, but too uniformly to win any seats.
