Eynsford river ford used as car wash
WARNINGS have been raised over the use of the River Darent as a car wash.
Homeowners living near the ford in Eynsford have said they fear for the environmental impact of the river as a result of car owners stopping in the middle of it and washing down their vehicles.
Jean Middleton, who lives near the ford, said: "We get people with very dirty Land Rovers.
"They stop in the middle of the road and actually clean their cars with brooms.
"You can see the oil slicks going down the river."
"This is a problem, especially when it gets to the spring and the birds are nesting on the river."
Alan Williams, chairman of the Darent River Preservation Society (DRIPS), said he was aware of people using the ford for this purpose.
He said: "We have seen occasions where off-roaders very often drive through to clean their vehicles off. There's very little we can do about it.
"You never know what's on the underside of a vehicle.
"They just move backwards and forward to make the force of the water go up underneath it and wash it.
"We just keep a general eye on what's happening."

Further proof that redneck is not a uniquely American phenomenon.

Actually, reading this story, I'm not sure whether it's more likely to be Pikeys, farmers or posh-gits who are doing this.
It doesn't say, and I could imagine it being any of them

Posh gits are tighter than a gnat's chuff. Probably them.

- About me: If I had my way I'd buy a few acres of land and an old tractor. I'd drive the old tractor around the land and passers-by would stop to ask me what kind of crop I was farming. "Crop?" I'd say, "Crops are work, I'm planting ideas."

Er, I used to get drunk with a man from Bradford on a a fairly regular basis, so I'll take a shot at translation...
