I think her phrasing and the atmosphere of her music is excellent and she's got a few decent songs, but I think she would have been musch better if she had dropped the faux American accent (it's always bothered me about English singers - Mick Jagger, for instance - why is he never challenged about it?).

As it is, I still think that someone fairly middling like Macy Gray has got a hundred times more soul, mournfulness and feeling in her singing than Amy Winehouse.

If Keef had had a habit of attacking people while stoned, opinions might be otherwise. I don't remember Grace Slick receiving such vitriol either. It is not a gender thing but a behaviour thing.
