Everything comes out of three chords

Looking for what it gave. By inspiration.

I gotta go, but for completeness, and any guitarists, here is Lou explaining. Maybe its 4 chords.

The guitar lesson is all barre chords for the main riff. This guy has it right. The first chord is a D on the fifth fret, same as the A open form. I can't do that one, one string always goes thunk. i play a partial.

If I want to sound all of the strings in a D-maj, 5th pos barre, I use my 3rd and 4th fingers to hold down the 3 strings on the 7th fret. If I try to hold them all with just one finger, the top E string is deadened. Using three fingers for them works but feels clunky. So I compromise.

A lot of the time though, I just play it as a power chord and don't sound the top strings - so one finger.

Thanks. I don't attempt to play along with the record much. Once I go through the chords in roughly the right rhythm, I feel satisfied. It is more "riff appreciation" than actual playing. :D

No, these are very common chords. The Bm was lost for a while but Lou Reed explained it all. My video dude plays it on the 7th fret, but Lou does not.

Easiest way for me to play that B-flat/D shape is just like the man does in the tutorial, or with #2 helping #1 on the grande barre. The secret is that the 3-string barre with the soft of #3 finger takes a lot less mashing than it looks, more like a soft touch, and right on the fret.
I like that shape, and it's not a cheat on a radiused fretboard. Ramble On will help you make friends with it. :tea:

I leave the F# out of D barred at 5th fret. I leave the 3rd out of every major chord I play in this way - just as if letting the B-string ring in the regular unbarred A-major. It's not a 'style' or anythong, just habitual laziness.

You fuckers haven't got a clue how to play a chord.

This is how it should be done :

Nice. The guitar body got in the way a bit though. She needs to hold it lower. :tea:
