Promising inventions

Post by mistermack » Thu Mar 20, 2014 7:57 pm

I'll start it off. I like this a lot. I assume that it has it's drawbacks.
Sliding doors on some people carriers have similar advantages, but the car shape doesn't lend itself to a sideways sliding door.

I didn't watch the video, so I don't know if it addresses this... but what if it is pissing down? You don't want your whole car getting saturated inside while you get in.

In the video, they show two door and four door models.
You could choose the four door if you didn't want that problem.
I'd rather have the two door, and put up with it. It's not an everyday problem. I keep a golf brolly in my car. But if you've got bigger kids, a four door might be better.

I imagine that I'd have my umbrella ready before I opened the door, then stand beside it while it closed. They do mention the engineering problem of maintaining the road clearance, so I wonder why not just have the doors open from bottom to top? Top clearance isn't an issue at all, as far as I know.

The roof isn't long enough. The doors would have to expand sideways, or be very narrow.
They do claim to have the same clearance. Don't know how they managed that.
