Nothing unusual about that. I have spent many hours fighting my way through scientific papers that are so jargon filled and poorly written that I needed a specialist dictionary, and to re-write the entire article as a translation, before I could reasonably fully understand it.
For every human action, there is a rationalisation and a reason. Only sometimes do they coincide.
