Hello,
I'm probably one of the last people to join this forum or RatSkep after RDF had been dismantled. I was Deicidal on RDF (not a big player, but I had like 2000 posts, if anyone remembers.) I woulda joined one of the fallout fora earlier, but instead I chose to read and comment on Pharyngula as a cheap replacement for a real online atheist community. But after PZ had proven himself to be an ass with regards to ElevatorGate, I just don't seem to want to read Phrayungula anymore, so where's an atheist supposed to go? His first beloved forum was destroyed by some turd (what happened to the lawsuit against Josh Timonen anyway?) and its replacement blog became a festering boil of irrational radfem victimology and misogynist name-calling if one doesn't walk in lockstep with PZ's views.
Anyway, that's my rant.
I just hope this forum doesn't gets dismantled or everyone suddenly starts touting Teabagger ideological talking points.
So yah..hello everyone!

Welcome, nibbler!
There is some ideology here, somewhere, but it usually scurries around in a dark corner.*

Nah. We just talk about cheese, mostly. Although we do have a couple of token teabaggers kicking about.
Welcome to Ratz, Nibbler. Just keep your teeth off the staff Stilton, OK?

I don't think anyone is interesting in going anywhere near your staff stilton XC. You should wash it more and you won't get any
Outside the ordered universe is that amorphous blight of nethermost confusion which blasphemes and bubbles at the center of all infinity—the boundless daemon sultan Azathoth, whose name no lips dare speak aloud, and who gnaws hungrily in inconceivable, unlighted chambers beyond time and space amidst the muffled, maddening beating of vile drums and the thin monotonous whine of accursed flutes.

Hi Nibbler - I recognise the name too. We're the lifeboat of the pre-RDF-dismantling lifeboat v1.0.

Welcome!
Don't get put off by insiderism - it is one of the more implicit ideologies here. And of course we have a couple of hard-line political ranters, like any irreverent enough forum. Enjoy!
PS: It is customary to donate some cheese and/or bacon for the staff. Some of us accept cookies, too (hint, hint, nudge, nudge..)
"The internet is made of people. People matter. This includes you. Stop trying to sell everything about yourself to everyone. Don’t just hammer away and repeat and talk at people—talk TO people. It’s organic. Make stuff for the internet that matters to you, even if it seems stupid. Do it because it’s good and feels important. Put up more cat pictures. Make more songs. Show your doodles. Give things away and take things that are free." -

I've joined a few forums, and every time someone says "don't feed the goat" or "mind the oranges" or "Oh ho Ho HO HO, you don't want to mention balsam!!!!"
So, in case you are intimidated by the cheese and bacon talk... It's the longest running local meme thingy. Well, cheese came first as a customary poll option, and then bacon came and conquered the throne (by popular vote in a poll).
I think we mostly try to be a relaxed, caring, fun-loving community here, but feel free to not be relaxed as well.

Hi, and welcome! I remember you as Deicidal on RDF - you talked a lot of sense on there, though, which is not something we generally do here...
