Yo, been rampaging around for a while looking for some decent PC games but everyone has the same list, or games which are simply incompatible with Vista.
Got any suggestions?

Been looking at every gaming website google can reveal.
Problem is I've picked up and finished the few decent ones in the past few years.
Not really placing restrictions, just something I can play more than once, doesn't require the internet and isn't too slow (IE Civ games, for example, are several hours for a single map. Can't stand that.)

OK.
You've probably heard it, it's pretty old but a classic: XCom: UFO Defense. It's pretty decent, there's a few open source remakes of it but none of them are finished yet, so probably better to wait for one of them.
Pretty much any Valve game: Portal (definitely get it if you haven't ), Team Fortress 2 for multiplayer, or Half Life 2 and the expansion packs.
If you like Dungeon Crawl/ Action RPGs (in the vein of Diablo, apparantly) then there's Torchlight.
Then there's roguelikes: free, perma-death, highly randomized dungeon crawls. Incidentally, my favourite is "Dungeon Crawl". They're often non-graphical, ie. everything is represented by letters in the console. Dungeon Crawl has some graphical tiles you can use.
If you want something more sandboxy, try Minecraft (block based building game, still in alpha) or GarrysMod (in the source engine, physics based sandbox).
Then there's the roguelike-sandbox style Dwarf Fortress. You don't dircetly control anything but you give orders. A high level of simulation: realistic fluid physics etc. It is in ASCII (represented by letters), though, and the interface is tricky. You'll need a bit of free time to learn it. It's free, as well.
There's a load of indie games, World of Goo springs to mind first. Frozen Synapse if squad based symultaneous turn based tactical pseduo play-by-email games are your kind of thing.
There's a free game that people swear by called "Cave Story". It's a sidescrolling shooter and is very good, in a retro kind of way.
Then, more story than game, there's Masq. You choose options for your character, and that is all. Interesting, and free.
For more casual games there's Peggle and Plants Vs Zombies (a tower defense game).
And finally, a game you can just pick up and play for minutes, or really sink your teeth into: Toribash. A 3D fighter, where instead of being a button-basher, it's turn based and you control the joints of your fighter - extending or contracting to create a wide range of different moves.
I think that pretty much covers it... Or at least these are the ones that come to mind first.
EDIT: If you're looking for PC gaming websites, you can't do better than Rock, Paper, Shotgun.

Here's one you might not have heard of: Vampire- The Masquerade: Bloodlines
It's an epic action RPG. You play a vampire. Pick powers, pick skills, pick your clan, and own LA. It's awesome and only 20 bucks on Steam
One problem though. It's heavily glitchy. There are a number of fan sites which have patch 7.1 which fixes pretty much all the glitches and problems. Just get that patch and it's fine.

Recettear: A fun little Japanese game. You Recette, who's adventuring father has left her with a large debt to pay off. The collection agency sends a fairy named Tear to help her earn the money by turning her house into an RPG item store. Buy low, sell high, have fun. Capitalism, HO!
Saints Row 2: Best sandbox game ever. Seriously.
Anything by Bioware: I seriously love every single one of their games. Brilliant storytellers and the gameplay is always up to snuff. Only time I've ever wanted to listen to every word an NPC has to say.
Gratuitous Space Battles: No story, no tedious missions, just make ships and fight them against other ships. Stuff blows up, lasers fly, space gets less empty. A fun time-waster.
Evil Genius: You're a bond villain. Manage your empire, perform dastardly deeds, hire henchmen, kill secret agents. It's basically Evil Lair Tycoon, and it's lots of fun.
Braid: Artistic, interesting, unique puzzle game involving time manipulation. Challenging but really fun. The story's a little artsy-fartsy, but the gameplay is solid.
Alien Swarm: Diablo meets Alien. It's also free. Pretty good price.
Neotokyo: A very, very well done mod for Source. If you have the Source SDK, download this mod. It's like Counter-Strike meets Ghost in the Shell. Really neat.
Dystopia: Another Source mod game. It's Quake with hackers and future stuff.
Garry's Mod: I could just spend hours dicking around in gm_construct, but the real fun is in the multiplayer, especially in the mod Trouble in Terrorist Town. Innocent terrorists need to survive for long enough or kill all the traitors. Traitors need to kill everyone. Lots of backstabbing, deception, and fun.
One of those ought to do it.
