and yes I agree - looking at their names I would guess they are all of Pakistani origin and therefore have all been brought up as "good" muslims..

I wonder why their religion is an issue. People of all religions can be monsters, these men were probably only brought together in a community due to their religion, it was (probably) not the motivation for raping the girl.

If we are to connect their crime to their religion without specific evidence that there is a connection, we would have to assume that ALL Islamic men approve of rape due to their religion, which is a sweeping generalisation and clearly false.

What I've found with a few discussions I've had lately is this self-satisfaction that people express with their proffessed open mindedness. In realty it ammounts to wilful ignorance and intellectual cowardice as they are choosing to not form any sort of opinion on a particular topic. Basically "I don't know and I'm not going to look at any evidence because I'm quite happy on this fence."
