April 5, 2014 Harris County Texas

The Harris County Sheriff's Office Safe Home Task Force is seeking the public's help in identifying a burglary suspect who is seen on home video surveillance walking through the victims ' home and staring at their infant while they slept.
Intruder creeps through toddler's room
He appeared to be aware that surveillance cameras were recording his every move but carried on anyway.

The footage shows him going from room to room. For five minutes, the stranger is seen walking in and out of the bedroom of a 2-year-old boy.
...
The teenage burglar eventually left and burglarized another home in the Brenwood Park subdivision.

He also got into that home through an unlocked window.

“I was sleeping. My dog started barking at the top of the stairs,” said Crystal Cox. “My boyfriend thought his bark sounded different so he flipped the light on.”

Cox’s boyfriend then shined a laser pointer toward downstairs. The intruder quickly escaped but abandoned some stolen belongings on Cox’s front lawn.
...
“He had no problem being in someone’s house, knowing that they were home sleep. That takes a lot of nerve,” added Cox.

3 arrested in home invasion robbery
According to the release, a woman and her 18-month-old child were sleeping at her residence on the 1700 block of Eighth Street West when she awoke at about 10:30 p.m. Tuesday to a loud banging noise.

The woman reported that it sounded like her front door was being opened, and when she looked out the bedroom she saw a man standing inside and pointing a rifle at her.

Iffland said in the release that when the woman slammed her door shut, the man started pounding on the door with the rifle, pushing its barrel through the door.

"The door was opened and the victim sat on the floor," Iffland said. "Another suspect came into the room and had another weapon and fired a shot narrowly missing the victim."

The intruders forced the woman, at gunpoint, into another room and she noticed a third person going through her refrigerator, the release said.

Why The Scaremongering About Murderous Veterans Is Ridiculous ~Paul Szoldra 04.08.14
This generalization — that the millions of veterans of Iraq or Afghanistan are about to snap — plays to a stereotype of veterans being forever broken by war, when the truth is that the vast majority are not afflicted with PTSD.

But even more unfortunate is the perception that veterans are a group people should fear. Indeed, it has become common to mention military service or combat experience of a wrongdoer as if it's some predictor of crime.
...
This is a shameful misrepresentation, and it only serves as a stigma to prevent veterans with legitimate mental health issues from seeking the care they need.

Met Police seize arsenal of weapons including assault rifles, sawn-off shotguns and Uzis!!1!
A deadly arsenal of weapons described as one of Britain’s biggest ever gun hauls has been seized from a suspected gang hideout.
...
It emerged today that criminals are using a legal loophole to import guns into Britain for use in street shootings and robberies.
...
“The size of the seizure is exceptional [30  ] and the danger of these weapons in the wrong hands cannot be overestimated.”

And it's continuing seizures like that in the UK, Australia and other places that is helping to maintain a relatively low level of gun "ownership" in the criminal fraternity...

Why one cop carries 145 rounds of ammo on the job
Before the call that changed Sergeant Timothy Gramins’ life forever, he typically carried 47 rounds of handgun ammunition on his person while on duty.

Today, he carries 145, “every day, without fail.”

He detailed the gunfight that caused the difference in a gripping presentation at the annual conference of the Assn. of SWAT Personnel-Wisconsin.

At the core of his desperate firefight was a murderous attacker who simply would not go down, even though he was shot 14 times with .45-cal. ammunition — six of those hits in supposedly fatal locations.
