I've posted links to articles about the two decisions.

Apparently religiously motivated discrimination is now not only acceptable, but supported by the Trump administration: Miracle Hill is getting federal funding. Fortunately now that the Democrats control the House of Representatives, unconstitutional nonsense like the 'Aderholt amendment' has much less chance of making it onto the books. The Republicans' finagling of the US Supreme Court means that nobody can depend on them to strike down theocratic bullshit. Both Gorsuch and Kavanaugh have previously shown themselves very friendly to discrimination based on 'deeply held religious beliefs.'

There are Republican legislators who've made unhappy noises about the Trump EPA decision to turn a blind eye to corporations poisoning people's water with two known toxins. We'll see if they actually step up and do something about it.

I referred to these first two groups as members of the anti-Trump coalition in my New York Times best-seller "Trump’s America: The Truth About Our Nation’s Great Comeback."

However, there has emerged a third group: They are the “trivialists.” I really had not understood the concept of trivialists until I watched the coverage of various “scandals” and “leaks” under the Trump presidency. The hysteria that has been attached to some headlines and stories are examples of those who ignore the great accomplishments in favor of the trivial nonsense. Monday's coverage of the Trump schedule is a perfect example of the trivialists in action.

we have very fast planes!
He spouted volumes of nonsense, but did make news by saying that he planned for U.S. forces to stay in Iraq to keep an eye on Iran. After he saw that expensive base he visited recently, he decided "we might as well keep it."

He claimed that if al-Qaida or any other terrorist group revives after the U.S. pulls out of Syria and Afghanistan we'll just go right back in because "we have very fast airplanes." And anyway, that big base in Iraq means that we control everything and he will know if anything bad is happening before it happens. He said he'll be putting his own intel people he can trust in the region and they'll keep a lid on it.

That was just the tip of the iceberg. From North Korea to Venezuela to Russia, the EU and China, Trump is just blathering off the cuff, with no idea of the consequence of his words. It's possible that Bolton has his ear, but even that's not really clear.

It's not my beloved Republican Party. Many of them have some odd beliefs. However, to sit there and pretend the Democrats don't deny science too, well, that's just stupid. They do. There are Democrat anti-vaxxers, Democrat anti-GMO-ers, and the like. Democrats show just swallow whatever nonsense claims are thrown their way because they sound good. Just look at all the bullshit sold in the social sciences. https://www.city-journal.org/html/real- ... 14782.html
Mister Whatabout strikes again.
Oh, fuck off - when the discussion is about whether this is peculiar to the Republican party, then pointing out other examples -- from the Communist Party, Socialist Party, Libertarian Party or Democratic Party is fair.

Whattaboutism is when one suggests that an argument is valid or conduct is good because someone else does the same or similar thing. I'm not suggesting that the Republicans are good or "correct" because of Democratic idiocy. I'm suggesting they're all idiots.

Republicans are a great deal more likely to deny science than Democrats. It would be interesting, for example, to compare the percentage of global warming denialists among Republicans with the percentage of global warming denialists among Democrats, then do the same with people in each group who deny evolution.
Nonsense. That's just not true.

You just limit your "science" to global warming and evolution. I am positive more Republicans deny global warming and evolution than Democrats. Democrats are idiots when it comes to other issues. They are idiots when it comes to global warming and evolution, too, by and large -- they just happen to have picked the right team on those occasions. Being "pro" evolution or global warming is not an indication that one knows anything about it. It's a broken clock being correct twice a day.

Three quarters (or something around that mark) of scientists are lefties. It's clear that the left is the home of evidence and science, and the right is the home of un-evidenced belief and moralising.

I'm getting my popcorn ready for the State of the Union. The Democrats are getting their shit-show ready -- all their "guests" are going to be there!

Drinking game for the State of the Union - take drink each time any of the following happens:

1. Pelosi grumbles and makes a grumpy face
2. Chuck Schumer stares intently at Trump with an "I've got your number," look on his face
3. The CNN camera pans to a Democrat "guest" to focus on their facial expression
4. The Democrats boo

A full beer if any of the following happens:

1. A democrat or "guest" walks out
2. A democrat shouts or otherwise says something audibly in response to something Trump said.

Chug Two Beers:

If the Democrats react positively to any of the long list of accomplishments of the Trump administration.

I just listened to a scientist, Debra Soh, talk about the science-denying left. Her examples were things that the left, and pretty much ONLY the left get wrong.

Sexual reproduction and gender.

If you don't think the lefties are unscientific about that, tell me why YOU think she quit a promising career as a research scientist. I accept her reasons. If you don't, this should be hilarious.
